I got a postcard from AOPA:

AOPA is looking for a few good CFIs to join the staff in our prestigious Pilot Information Center.

This remarkable........blah blah blah.............
.............In Addition to comprehensive benefits, insurance and disability plans, AOPA will pay you to fly!*

blah blah blah.......forward your resume and salary requirements to:
421 Aviation Way
Frederick, MD 21701
hr@aopa.org
* I wonder how much?

I worked with the folks in the Pilot Info Center although it was for a temporary job. Fantastic group of people, and a great organization. I'll say that the pay was very good (more than I make as a CFI - for a temporary position). Great little city to live in, close enough to DC and Baltimore for the weekends.

If you're a people person and you don't mind working a 9-5 Monday through Friday but you LOVE to talk aviation, its a great opportunity. That probably doesn't apply to most of us, but you never know!

I was thinking about doing this and probably would have except the drive from Crystal City to FDK is about an hour longer than I was willing to drive.

I forget the pay, but it was probably double what the average CFI makes and they told me they even give you extra pay to stay current with flying. It sounded like a great job to me. You could probably even part time CFI for fun if you wanted. That was my plan till I found out about the drive.

Don't expect to have them pay for anything above keeping you legally current though. But still, that is a pretty good deal I think considering it isn't a pilot job.

Yeah, sounds like that job would really suck for most people. I think Mike thought it was a paid flying job, I could see why.

Uh, no. I was being skeptical of how much flying you would get to do working a desk job, but thanks for speculating. Scheduled to fly with any students this week?
