I passed my CFI checkride on Monday March 15, 2004. This was the toughest ride I have ever had, but now I can finally say that I am a Flight Instructor. The ride took place at Martin State Airport in Baltimore, Maryland.

Congratulations!

<Any chance you can post some details?>

The oral portion of the flight test was passed on monday March 8,2004. The wind was gusting to 30 knots so I couldn't finish the flying portion. The oral lasted for three hours and having a few FAA publications and an advisory circular for endorsments hepled greatly. For the first half hour paperwork was being completed and at 9:30am the first question was asked reguarding FOI material. I was asked about teaching methods and Instructor responsibility. I was then asked what I would do if my student who has flown with me nine times gets airsick and incompacitated each time we flew? My response was I would tell the student that he must go to a doctor to see why he is getting sick, I would not fly with him until he is OK'd by the doctor. I also told him that flying might not be for him. I was then asked what I would do if the same student left me and went to another flight school? I told the Inspector I would tell the Instructor who was working with him that he may have a medical problem and that I told the student to get checked by a doctor, and that I would write a letter to the FAA informing them of the problem. The last answer was what he was looking for which is why there is no right or wrong answer to the what would you do type of question. I was asked what sign-off a student would need to solo.I was spared from a large amount of endorsment questions because I had the AC for sign-offs.I was asked about inspections and what I would need to legally make the test/ rental flight.I was asked to brief S-turns across a road. I then went over the log books for the cessna 172. At 12:00 to 1:00 we broke for lunch. After lunch I was told to go over the logbooks for the sierra which took only five minutes and the Inspector said let's go fly. I spent 25 minutes expaining why flying in a 30 knot crosswind was not a good idea and that we could just finish the oral and fly another time. He told me the oral was over and I got a letter of discontinuence for weather and the ride was rescheduled for march 15. On the 15th we got to the plane and I did slow flight, stalls, chandelles, lazy 8's turns around a point, emergency descent to landing, and finally a soft field landing. We then jumped in the sierra and did a short field take-off, normal landing, short field landing and we were done. It wasn't my best flying as I was very nervous, but it was good enough.

It feels very good to be done, now the only thing I have to do is find students and a job.I did a BFR for an aircraft owner but thats about all so far. Thanks everyone for the kind words.

Well if I ever get over there I'll take a lesson from you Vic, doesn't look like I'll be over 'till this summer though
