CFI Business cards!! What's your look like?

I'm in the middle of designing my First CFI cards. I'd like to see other pilots cards for inspiration aka ideas to steal...jk

But seriously, If you have a cool looking card I'd like to see it. I saw some great aluminum cards once, but they had to be spendy.

Thanks!

Mine just has the company logo on it with my information on the bottom corner. I didn't really get any say in designing it, when I got hired here they just made mine the same as everyone else's.

Where do you fly out of in LGB?

I scored my ratings with ATP at aeroplex, but instructing wise I was thinking about checking out the Flying Club. I've known a few guys that instructed there years ago and I assume I'd have to bring in my own students. Maybe we should meet up?

Biz card and a ink pen. They go good together.

I no longer have a CFI business card, but do have business cards for my photography business. I think these would look great for a CFI too! Modern & sharp. The front side is a photo (s) of your choosing and the back side is your info. Have a look at them!

I have been very impressed with their service and products & everyone I hand out cards to is as well.

I'm not a CFI (yet) but I'm planning on making a business card that can double as a paper airplane desk model. I was thinking 2-D business cards are kinda boring one day, and thought a 3-D card would be fun, different, and memorable. I do have some I drew up, but right now it's still just an idea/prototype (and I need to get my CFI). We'll see how it works out for me.

Speaking of that, are business cards actually even worthwhile? Does the cost outweigh the benefit? How productive are they REALLY? I've never performed a cost/benefit analysis and don't really know where to get this kind of marketing info, but I haven't gotten a business card from anyone in a long time and I'm wondering if there's a reason.

Hummm. $40 for 1000 contacts. I think that is probably going to pay off in the long run.

Mine does have a photo on the front of a student going for her first solo flight. It's pretty cool!

My business cards isn't really a marketing tool, rather a convenience for me. I would much rather hand out a business card from my wallet (yes I keep some there since I have extra room where money should be) rather than scribble my number on a napkin or whatever else I find. Nobody is going to call just because of a business card, however, it is expected and it is what people ask for.

Anyone looking for marketing should have an SEO optimized website and be advertising at all local airports. I've got many more marketing tricks but business cards are still a must. If all else, print out black and white ones from your computer.

And for the 3-d model, it is clever but not as practical as a card someone can stick in their shirt pocket. I would do both.

I thought I would share a few other marketing tricks I use:

  • Learn to fly kits. I stick in typed info and freebies I get from AOPA. I have gotten a huge response from including a free DVD on flying fundamentals. I plan to develop my own soon to keep costs down.
  • Pens and notepads. It doesn't cost much to put your name and number on them from a print shop. Leave them in every airport.
  • Flight plan forms. I print them out and put my information on the bottom. I do the same for on other handy forms and documents such as communication frequencies for all local asos/awos.
  • Website. A must. Post good content. Google adwords can drive lots of local contacts to you. I'm a developer if anyone needs one.
  • Internet databases. List yourself on every free one, especially AOPA.
Above all, word-of-mouth advertising is best. Reputation matters.

Your ideas are great lhornaday! Thanks for sharing them! (what is SEO by the way)

My apologies, I didn't explain my business card prototype very well. It is a regular business-card sized card, but it has an airplane with my name and contact info printed on it. I also came up with a company logo that I plan to put on the tail of the model airplane that is printed on the card. Clients/prospective students can keep the card as it is, like a regular business card, or they can cut the airplane model out and put it together.

Cody,
Four cents/card huh? That doesn't sound too bad, but I would probably shop around anyhow. Call me frugal. How many colors is that? Is there an initial set up fee? Do you order them online, or in your community? Still, at that price, if even one person out of the 1000 sets up a flight with you, you've made your money back.

I believe this is where I got mine printed. They are now $50 for 1000 double sided.

I'd suggest though not going with double glossy sided. Turns out I can't write on mine. On the back of my card I have a TAC chart for my local area and a few phone numbers and frequencies for FSS... Something different. Unfortunately, some of the other guys at work ripped off my format. Losers.

My new and improved website should be ready to launch in a few weeks. That will be good!

Thanks for the posts guys! I think I'm gonna go for the two sided card with a picture of a plane flying around with a stunning backdrop. I'll post it soon with my new website.

I created a simple design in Publisher and uploaded it to VistaPrint. Using a coupon code I found online, I ordered 250 premium cards for about $15 with shipping. From there they send me offers for 250 free premium cards; all I end up paying is $5 for shipping. Needless to say, I am sufficiently stocked on cards now.

I think the pic on front and info on back would look good. Use whatever airplane represents what you fly the most.

Make sure the image is high quality (300 dpi) and save some space on each edge for cutting and trimming.

Hey Dennis! Things are good. Let me know if you need a hand on your cards. My GF is a graphic designer.
