Cessna delivering the final Skycatchers

And eventually the stock of creampuff 152s will dry up, and the corrosion lurking in a lift strut attach point layup will cause a wing to separate, and an AD will come out, and $100k to rebuild a set of wings will kill the type.
That's probably true but no one is going to buy a 162 on the speculation that that might happen someday.

I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I've ended up where I needed to be.

If you've followed the results of the Cessna single engine SID program in places where it has been made regulatory I don't think it's a question of if but when.

Once again, LSA was never meant for all these S-LSAs that are on the market. It was a method to regulate the vast number of 2 seat not legal part 103 ultralights.

Cessna tried an LSA, failed. Piper tried an LSA, failed, although it's still on the market as it's original name.
True, but it hasn't stopped Cub Crafters and Legend Cub from making a pretty good buck off of the LSA rules. However, their niche is more of a PA-11 replacement which had a gross weight falling under the LSA rules to begin with.

I believe American trends in body weight will have a much bigger effect on the future of the 152 than corrosion.
Could be right. I've seen results of some wing tear downs though and lemme tell ya...scary stuff lurking in some of these 40+ year old airplanes.

Ya. Fabric FTW on antiques.
Steel tubing has its own weaknesses. I guess the key difference is you can actually buy a new production steel tube frame for a PA-anything from univair. Or just take it to Atlee Dodge and they can make it as good as new...

Frame , wings struts, extended this and that , nameplate and you get a brand , better than new, working cub . With the same money you can only get a "certified refurbished"150/152 .
http://aviataircraft.com/152-reimagined/ ... So an old beater and a 120K is supposed to work another 30 years, while same price brand new aircrafts are turned into pancakes.
