Cessna 421 Questions.....

Just a couple questions for you guys - how loud is it inside the cabin? Do you need a headset?

Also what's it range with 5 pax on board? Does it do pretty well?

I'm not sure if you could really have a conversation, but I've flown in a C421 where one of the PAX didn't have a headset on and he didn't complain...

Edit: I also took a video with my iPhone during landing and you could clearly hear both the pilot and me (sitting on the right) speaking.

I'm no 421 pilot by any means, but it is a very quiet aircraft. One trip I rode on we had seven people on board and flew a 430nm trip with IFR reserves on board (I think the guy always doubles his IFR reserves). It was quiet enough for the PAX that they played poker all the way to our destination. When I'm sitting up front I can hear the people talking in back too.

The 421 cruises at 1800-1900 RPM's and it's quiet enough to carry on a conversation with little need to raise your voice.

The C model has 206 Gals usable (without Nacelle tanks), and you can plan for a 50 gals/hour burn.

I've carried 6 total (myself @ 160/5 pax) plus 120-130lbs of bags out of MIA going up to ATL and full fuel. We had a lighter 421 with the RAM conversion, and it would carry 6 as long as the total weight per pax was under 200lbs.
