Carribean Charters

Anyone know of a good charter company that flies between SJU and EIS? Looking for a plane that can take 8 Pax and baggage.

Cheers!

Air Sunshine charters 402s down that away. Vieques Air Link (if they are even still around) has/had a caravan they used to do charter work with.

VAL is definitely still around as of last month...couldn't tell you about their charter stuff though :dunno:

Thanks for the info guys.

I will check them all out.

I checked Cape Air and all the scheduled flights are booked. I even called their charter department and no one returned my call.

IF I didn't go freight, and lived on the East Coast, Cape Air seems like one of those operators that would be fun to work for.

Thanks for all the input. I put a couple of feelers out there to some charte co and got a couple of quotes. Seems the majority of inter island travel is done by C404's and C402's.

Can anyone with 402 time tell me if it can handle the weight of 8 Pax + baggage? I know it's a pretty general question and the weight and balance of 8 Pax + Baggage can vary greatly.

One more edit: I got the useful load info

Empty weight: 4,069 lb (1,845 kg)
Loaded weight: 6,865 lb (3,114 kg)
Useful load: 2781 lb (1262 kg

I haven't ever flown a 402 but I loaded them for a summer. Depends on what model but 8 passengers plus bags (assuming they aren't golf or ski bags) should be doable.

In a 402C with 600 lbs of fuel (more than enough to get from SJU to EIS) you could carry 8x180 lb pax plus a 180 lb pilot with enough payload left over for around 600 lbs of baggage. There should be no cg issues so long as there is some weight in the nose.
