Yea but they're B models. Them are nice!

Absolutely...I'm a spoiled freight dawg, now!!! 4 legs is my longest day (Saturdays)...of course, my longest flight is on Sundays...LCK-STP. That gets old.

Do ya'll think my new RATO is unsafe?

That's cool...need to make up some shirts with that on it...

That was one of the more ignorant statements I've ever read. How so? How is what I do less safe than a regional who hires people with three hundred hours? Do tell please!
Are you kidding? Take a look at ntsb.gov dude. You can pretend all you want but two pilots are safer than one, turbines are more reliable than pistons; 121 regs have more safety built in than 135. And what regional is hiring people with 300hrs?

That's not to say freight is unsafe, imho both types of flying are very very safe. Just that in freight it comes down to the single pilot to provide that safety more often, and we're all human.

Pinnacle and Mesa just off the top of my head with all their programs...and do we need to mention Gulfscam? I'm sure there are others...

Edited to add: I agree with the rest of what you said...it comes down to a single pilot with old equipment vs. turbine two pilot (or one pilot who babysits...sometimes). The two crew environment and 121 regs are meant to be safer, and statistically have proven to be. But, we're not out here killing ourselves every night and falling out of the sky like the article suggests.

Thanks for the enlightenment TX....I had wondered for quite a while but I did not feel I was worthy yet

When I return to the states I am going to continue working on my ratings and building hours up to 135 mins...I want in

Nights work for me (I work 6pm until 8am right now) and my wife is a nurse so she has an option for 12's from 7pm until 8am.....it is just crazy enough to work

Ok you can have your thread back...

No problem...it's a decent club to be in :insane: . Just do your research about the companies since there are some shady ones out there. There are some here at Airnet that have made a career out of the schedule. One of these days I'd like to live on a normal schedule again, but then you have to fly during the day and that sucks!!:yar: :bandit:

I curse Ra every morning when I'm flying back to hartford (East). At least he's losing strenght now that the days are getting shorter.

300 hours? Not anymore. I think we hired about 3 CAPT guys, and no Gulfscammers in a LOOOONG time. But, I'm sure everyone else out there still thinks we do. Most of the guys with low time are out of ATP, and the times have been more like 600-700TT. Might as well toss in XJT and Colgan on the list as well, then.

I'm just tired of defending myself just b/c the regional I worked for USED to hire from this crappy programs. And we weren't the only ones, just the most publiziced.

How many 135 ops sell a questionably logged SIC seat?

I don't agree with hiring the lower time guys in the 121 environment, but I'm getting sick of being badmouthed and lumped in with the other guys....

Not to go off the original topic but, do you find that guys coming from ATP with 600-700TT almost all of which is multi are any better then guys with over 1000hrs in mostly single's?
The reason I ask is because I've got 400TT right now, 300 of which is multi. I feel flying a twin everyday require's you stay much more on top of your game then say a 172. I hear people bad mouth low time guys, but I'd like to think low time guys that are loaded (more then 50%) with multi time would be better then someone with only 100hrs in a twin. After all, last time I checked most regional aircraft had more then one engine. :)

As far as the article, you know what they say about the media, can't believe anything you hear. But I would agree with the fact that single pilot, single engine IFR at night could get pretty hairy some times.

Yes, that was an outdated lumping in when I used you guys. Hopefully, this rumor of Jet U and you guys is not true, though, because then it'll be true all over again.

The question I was anwering was regionals with 300 hours. Yes, there are scum freight operators out there...once again, though, we were discussing flying jets at 300 hours, not cargo in props.

Sorry to have lumped you in there, and hope everything works out over there (read: Jet U is just a rumor). Let me know next time you're on sitting here in MSP and we'll get a bite to eat! I'll be back up here next Wed for a week.

If you VMC often, or have frequent engine failures - or, you're with an instructor who constantly throws engine "failures" at you, then you're definately on top of your game!

Otherwise, you're alot better at moving two throttle levers at the same time.
