SIERRA VISTA - A car ran into a small plane that had lost oil pressure and made an emergency landing on a state highway about 3 miles south of Sierra Vista in southwestern Arizona.

FAA spokesman Ian Gregor says the single-engine, high-performance Extra Flugzeugbau EA-300 made the landing around 9:30 a.m. Saturday on State Route 90. An oncoming car then hit the aircraft's left wing tip.

The car owner had minor cuts, and the pilot was not hurt. No one else was on the plane.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the accident.

Since he got hit by the car, that makes the driver of the car at fault. Explain that one to the insurance company? You HIT a $200,000+ airplane???

"Glen LerNUH!"

"Hi Glen, I was in a wreck and I need a check"

Hey you know, add a dog and a couple of barflies and that could almost be Seggy! ;)

That would totally suck.

So you successfully put your plane down after an engine failure. (Make sure you keep your cool like MichaelC). Then just as let out a sigh of relief, "WHAM!" hit by a car.

Insurance is going to love this one!

South of Sierra Vista? There's a pretty good chance the car driver doesn't even have insurance, and the vehicle is from Sonora. Now that would be a confusing mess....
