Captain Pay

When you upgrade at your respective airline, when do you start getting the new payrate? First day of ground school? After the fed ride/ioe?

TSA: you do your fed ride in the middle of IOE. Pay doesn't kick in until after finishing ioe.

What's your contract say?
Our policy is after fed ride/ioe. I was curious how other airlines did it. We are still behind the times in some areas, and still run like a mom and pop shop. Which isn't always a bad thing, but we aren't always in touch with what other airlines are doing. If we are really different, the DO seems to be good about getting things towards industry standard.

Conversion date here at my shop. Sometimes it happens before training or during. "Kinda".

Sign off of IOE here at "Wings of the Great Northwest" (BS policy, should be when start upgrade training...since you're no longer FO qual'd)

Something like that. More precisely, if you are scheduled to complete the LOE by the 15 of the month, your pay starts at the beginning of that month. If you complete the LOE after the 15th, pay starts the 1st of the next month.
OR, if someone junior to you, who was awarded the same seat on the same AE, converts prior to you, then you are pay protected and start receiving captain's pay when they do. Provided you waive your vacation protection.

There's a reason our PWA is several thousands of pages long.

At Compass it was checkride or effective date of the award. Which ever was first. Typically checkride.

Is this a big reason why guys elect to have junior guys convert first?

After QLOE (AQP airplanes) or MV (non-AQP airplanes) - the issuance of the type rating, at my shop.

Awarded captain then go for extra training to be a sim instructor then revoke it all and give you FO pay on the smallest aircraft.

Oh well I got my ATP and a type on an aircraft I never piloted.
