CAP as "employer"???

I'm putting my application together on airlineapps, and I can argue this both ways...

Would you list CAP (6 years, about 800 hrs) as an employer? If not, it's not clear to me where to include it.

I list it as a job, both on my Resume and applications. See Resume excerpt below:

For all the applications I've filled out, I put down "Civilian Volunteer" as my position. Rank, achievements, etc get listed in the description field.

Just show up to the interview in your dress blues.

Kidding aside, I would list it but as others have said as a volunteer position not employer.

When I see CAP on a resume I just chuckle. I also don't put hobbies on resumes.
I've been advised by at least 2 HR Managers to list it as a job. One didn't know what CAP was until I explained it, the other was a retired "First Shirt" in the Air Force.

Some time ago, I had me Resume completely revised by one of those professional Resume outfits. They were the first to suggest putting CAP down as a job (or employer if you prefer) as it isn't a true hobby. Previously, I had listed it as "other activities" or something like that.

I always put hobbies and volunteer work on resumes. I cannot tell you how many times some personal interest or ambition has struck a cord with interviewers and we've started talking about those areas. Remember if you get to an interview you are almost certainly already technically qualified for a job (or they've decided they are willing to train you)... the interview is usually about personality and if these people would really want to work with you.

Unless you're CAP in Alaska, I normally equate it as like one step below pedophilia...I'd try to hide any involvement.

When I started putting down photography as a hobby, I've noticed that the interviews I've had since then have gone a lot better. I take my iPad with my just in case I'm asked if I have any to show off.

Well aren't you just a ray of sunshine?
