Cameras in the cabin

How long until we see cameras installed in the cabins?

IMO they should have been there a long time ago.

Might as well throw one in the flight deck while you're at it...

We have cameras in the cabin on the A320s at BlueJet, but word is they will taken them out in the next year or so as the planes go in for cabin refresh modifications and the system is apparently not compatible wit the new one... so they say

On our PAX -400s we have cameras. It's like watching the security camera footage on the local news that has been filmed off the security monitor and then broadcasted and then someone took a cell phone video of it and uploaded to youtube on 240p and then watched on a blackberry with a broken screen.

It's true. The new live TV doesn't have the same input system. Some thought was put into wifi cameras, but the benefit doesn't outweigh the cost.

That's a shame. I always thought that was extremely progressive thinking at B6. It gives the crew the best picture of what was happening at the cabin.

Now if they had that AND a secondary barrier, they would have led the industry in flight deck security. For some reason the airlines are really resistant to the secondary barrier though.
