Ok I figure some of you clicked on the thread because of the weird subject heading.

I just have a quick question. Has anyone ever heard anything about "Continental Training & Service Center" at Van Nuys airport. I stopped in to inquire about flying lessons. Their website is www.continentalvny.com

If anyone has heard anything good or bad I would appreciate their input.

Im looking for a place where I can do ALL my training to start my new career.

Thanks ahead of time

Ray

I haven't heard of them but if you are interested in flight schools in SoCal I went to Glendale Community College It is really cost effective I got my Private, Instrument and Commercial there for just under 10,000 all you do is pay for the plane the instructors are paid by the state:) check it out at www.gcc.edu you can even shoot out an email to Al Frazier and he will go into more detail about how everything works. They fly out of KWHP and have a beautiful fleet of 2 C172 that are kept up very well, way way better than any FBO I have flown out of... good luck

Did you also earn your AS? Did it take a full 24 months to get all the certificates and the AS?

Yes I am about to finish my AS degree and it took 24 months you could do it a little faster if you attend all the semesters (Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer) if you have any questions pm me.

rayray311,

I'm a CFI and have rented from them a few times for my personal flying. I have nothing good or bad to say about them, however I would recommend a formal flight school with a staff of instructors on duty 8 hours a day with access to quality ground instruction. Van Nuys airport doesn't seem to have any outstanding flight schools compared to 10 years ago.

I recommend looking at Santa Monica Airport.

Thanks mugs,

I dont want to do the 2 year program in a college like setting at Glendale. So I now know I am going to go the FBO route. Aero Club at Van Nuys was suggested to me but I didnt get the greatest vibe when I went in there. not that it was bad, just didnt grab me right away. i liked hollywood aviators but they lost their multi plane a while back because of a crash and they arent replacing it. the only places at van nuys with multi planes are aero club and continental.

i have visited justice aviation at SMO 3 times and i like it a lot. but i want to visit each school i like 3 -5 times to talk to them before i decide.

thanks for the input.
