C5 MEC Conference Call

Last night, the C5 MEC had a conference call to discuss various topics affecting our airline. Nothing concrete was discussed, just more of an informational "we are working on stuff for you guys, what are your ideas?" kind of thing in the ways of pilot retention, attraction and QOL.

To me (and the MEC), the biggest deal was that we had 75 people in on the call. There might have been more if not for the last minute notice, some technical glitches and the fact some folks had to fly. For our small group of 200+ pilots, that's pretty good turnout.

Let's hope we can do something with it going forward.

A commuter clause, paid parking out of base and whatever the details of the payrates are would be nice. I've got no idea what it would take to get people in the door here again. It all may be too little too late. I can say If improvements to the scheduling department aren't addressed it will all be for not anyway.

I wanted to tune in, but I was flying back to Dulles. Looking forward to that recording though....sounds like I missed a good one!

No clue either. Money would be a good starting point though, but what we should get and what the company can pay for (and should pay for) might not be enough. I'd like to see $4-5/hr increase or just parity with PDT since we fly the same equipment to begin with. Or $3 per hour raise BUT pay for parking at home airport( or a reimbursement depending on your airport) since more people will be commuting before too long.

Scheduling is the other problem, but it's also due to our staffing problems. This isn't an easy fix and hopefully management knows that. On a related note, three sets of manuals were sitting outside of the Chief Pilots office in CLE yesterday. All F/O's who had quit.

I heard great things about the conference call as well! Really the bottom line up front was just pay for the most part. I'm afraid the company may have waited too late to fix any issues. We lost an astounding 14 FO's in the last 2 months ALONE, all mostly going to PSA, SkyWest, Mesa, and Compass. The problem is not only getting new guys, but keeping them on property. With no sign of what the future plans for us are, many people are not sticking around to find out. Seems almost FO I fly with either has an interview or class date at another regional. Not going to lie, I'm getting slightly nervous.

Any word on CLE as a pilot base?

FO Rates by YOS:
1. $30.00
2. $32.00
3. $33.00
4. $34.00
5. $35.00
6. $36.00
7. $37.00

CA's get a $4 or more per hr raise across the board. Other QOL improvements as well, (hotels in base, better commuter clause, paid parking at commuter home airport, etc)
That is some awesome improvements if the company signs off on it.

Now in realistic terms what are the odds of the company agreeing to this?
