C172 RAM Mount

One that won't block the flight instruments, or the view out of the windows with a giant piece of consumer electronics?
:)

I use the yoke mount with the universal "Tab-Tite" mount. That's with a full-size iPad, a bit bigger than your Air.

A few things that might help with placement to avoid blocking instruments. Be a bit creative. You don't have to do the typical "over the top of the yoke." I picked up an extra double socket arm to give me more options. Although I used my iPad in portrait mode for a long time, I ultimately decided I had a better view of it and the instruments in portrait mode. It also worked out better for me when I used a split screen side-by-side rather than up-and-down. The result is my iPad sits horizontally just in front of the yoke horns and blocks nothing when I'm flying in the clouds.

The photo is a Mooney but I do the same in PA-28s and 172s.

I did something similar to @MidlifeFlyer when I started flying Cessnas. I used the claw mount but picked up an extra double ball joint and arm. So now there's 2 arms between the claw and the iPad mount and that gives enough flexibility to have the mount go under the yoke and give you some options as far as what angle you want your iPad to be at. It works perfect with the newer style yoke as well as the yoke in the older models and doesn't get in the way of any instruments or flight controls.
