C-152 versus Diamond Katana DA-20

Let's say that you had the chance to train (private pilot) in any of these two airplanes at almost the same price.
Leaving aside the little extra cost of the Katana, which airplane would you rather use for your training and why? Thanks.

I can't say anything for the 152 as I've never flown it, but im currently finishing out my Private training in the Katana and its great. Given on longer x-c's the seats can get a little hard, it's a great airplane. It handles great, has electric trim, has a stick, and has gotten me hooked on low wings. It's a smooth transition to flying, and nothing beats the visibility in the canopy. I would definitely recommend the katana as a private trainer for sure.

Go with the DA-20, I have time in both and currently instruct in the DA-20 and would have to say that it is a much better airplane to do your training in!

Well I also have flown both airplanes. The DA-20 are so easy to fly it should be illegal or even a sport airplane. I remember flying through thermals in a C150 and remember getting my food rolled around in my stomach. It is not as bad in a Katana. Those planes are so easy it is scary. But the biggest thing that matters the most is that it doesn't matter what plane you are flying, as long as you are learning something.

Have fun!!! Tha DA-20 hands down!!! Newer technology and all....the 152 can't compare, even with the price difference. Only thing the 152 has is that it is cheap and more accesible. I tried to train in a 152 and only lasted .7 hours when it was supposed to be 2 hours.
