Bruce Dickinson/John Travolta and others

Ok, so for awhile now, I've been following the flying ventures of Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson as well as actor John Travolta. Both of whom fly Boeing aircraft. In fact I believe, they are the only two entertainers flying jetliners today. According to some, John only has SIC privileges, meaning he can be in the left seat, as long as there is type rated PIC beside him. I've seen him in the left seat, so it seems to be true. Bruce Dickinson currently flies the 757 for Astraeus, just makes him that much cooler:cool: The difference between these two pilots, is that Bruce is an actual charter pilot when he isn't touring, and John flies mostly out of love for aviation. This got me thinking, who else up there in the skies is famous/well known. Former Boston Bruin and the only NHL player to get 40 goals and 300 penalty minutes in a single season, Al Secord, currently flies first officer for American. I'm sure that conversation would be interesting to tell someone. "Yeah, I just got back from my flight, former Bruin Al Secord was on the flight." Oh really, what section was he in. "Umm, the cockpit." No seriously, what section? "The flight deck, he was one of the pilots":) I also believe ex-NFL player, Jim Ritcher, flies for American as well.

Travolta likes to play dressup and wear the pilots uniform. I don't know how much "love" of aviation he has.

I'd say Harrison Ford is probably one of the more well know celebrity pilots who actually enjoys flying. A former student of mine helps him shuttle aircraft around out of Jackson, WY. Ford also routinely donates his time and helicopter to Teton Mountain Rescue. There's a great video floating around somewhere on Youtube of Ford flying around in his Beaver talking about how much he loves flying.

Morgan Freeman is also a pilot who has done a bunch of stuff for GA.

He's got other planes too, including a Gulfstream and an Eclipse Jet. He's single pilot typed on the Eclipse, and has the following other types. LR-JET, HS-125, CE-500 (VFR only), and has an authorization to fly a Soko G-2 (Yugoslavian trainer). Somehow, I don't think somebody is going to do all that and not love aviation.

Angelina Jolie has a private/instrument and flies an SR-22, I believe. Many of the NASCAR owners/drivers own and fly their own planes, from pistons to jets.

I'm not sure if he owns anything but I'd guess he does. Craig Ferguson is also a pilot.
Some others....
Carl Edwards-CE525-Nascar Driver
Kyle Petty-SR22-Nascar
Arnold Palmer-CE750-Golfer

Just a couple more

Me. :D

I've been seen in HBO productions, newsprint media (for years) and a few other outlets.

I'm also a bearer of the 'Charles' lineage, such as Lindbergh, Yeager, and the like.

I'm also a legend in my own mind.

Soak up the star power, JCers! I walk amongst you!

... so gimme my space. 'Cuz I might trip over the tie-down ropes otherwise.

(People that think this is a serious post in three.... two.... one...)
EDIT: Okay, maybe just a teeny, tiny bit serious..... :p

Jack Roush....

Two P-51's, a T-6, J-3 Super Cub, 172, and.... uhh what's left of a Premier.

I think that's all that's in the Hangar.

Apparently Michael Dorn has owned a T-33, and F-86 and a T-39 version of the Rockwell Sabreliner.

The story I've heard about Travolta and flying is that he lives off of a private strip on the east side of Ocala, FL (if Ocala really had a side). He keeps his 707 there and will fly it from his private strip to Ocala's regional field, land, and drive to Denny's restaurant. All this at around midnight to 2am. It was told to me by the private seller we bought our plane from. This guy also told us the plane we bought was in great shape, so who knows the 100% validity of the story. Other people at the FBO there backed up his story.

Iron Maiden's Bruce Dickinson has some clips over on youtube of him featured on a Discovery Channel type flying show. He's flying an Airbus. So he is not totally partial to Boeing.

Video (probably been posted before).

I think Astraeus has 1 Airbus in its fleet. I believe Bruce usually flies the 757 and sometimes the 737. I remember during college, back in 2007, I visited Cranebank in London, and I see these pilots talking, and one of them looked familiar. So, once I joined the B.A. Capt in the simulator, I asked the instructor, was that Bruce Dickinson? "You bet", he says. I would have gone up and said hi, but I didn't want to bother him. It is cool to see a lot of famous individuals flying aircraft, however, Bruce seems to be very humble, and enjoys what he does. I think he even once said "I don't consider flying work, it's fun for me, the pay is just a bonus." Just an all around cool guy:cool:

Cock of the walk baby!

Bruce Dickenson ftw!!!!!!!!!

What an awesome dude. I want to take one of these flight that the Iron Maiden fanclub organizes. Bruce flies a 757 full of Maiden fans from Gatwick to one of their gigs.

(Bruce and Nicko cruising over Europe in a Cessna 421(?)) (It is kind of spinal tap like when he starts talking about the panel. I also noticed that he did the kts/mph conversion backwards. haha)

These engine gauges here, they all go to 11.

David Gilmour of Pink Floyd is a big time aviation enthusiast. For a while he owned a rather large airplane museum in England.
