For Sale Bose A20

I have an almost new Bose A20 for sale. It's the non Bluetooth model, and is in perfect shape. The bag works great but has slight fraying on the edges. It has been a great headset, but at my company no one uses the inter phone, so I always have the left ear cup off my ear to hear conversations. This is quite annoying - so I am looking to get a Telex 850, or a clarity aloft, or the like. I would like 850 for it. I will post some photos of it - but as I said there is nothing wrong with it.

I will pay for shipping anywhere in the us, and comes with all manuals, warranty, and original box.

If you have any suggestions on headsets I appreciate it!

Cheers!

I still have it - I am changing jobs, and now work at ASA on the Xjet side. I still would like to get rid of it. I will be flying the 145' and am thinking the TSO clarity aloft. I will post pictures when I get back to the hotel - but it is in great shape. I will take 800 for it. I used the planetronics in the dash and thought they were great!

Cheers

At piedmont - no one used the interphone. Class just started at Xjet. So I don't know what the general consensus is. I have heard great things about the clarity aloft in the e145. Thoughts?

There is an issue with the TSO Clarity Aloft in our 145s. The original version is perfect, just not TSO. The redesign for TSO introduced some issues. Do a search or call CA and you'll find lots of info...basically the TSO version has problems with audio bleeding through from the nav radios, and both pilots can hear it. It's worse in some aircraft than others, and CA seems to think it's a grounding issue but have failed to fix it.

The A20s work great in our aircraft. I use a Bose X and like it.

Forgot to add, welcome aboard!

Thanks Paul. Week one of basic indoc is complete - was assigned ewr so am quite excited. Do you have any other headset suggestions? The Bose is comfortable - I just don't like squeezing from them? Do you know anyone with the plantronics with the custom ear molds? Thanks!

The Plantronics and Telex aren't very popular for a couple reasons. First, the mic (especially the Plantronics) picks up far too much noise. This is a noisy cockpit so with your hot mic on all that noise is heard by both pilots. Second, the earmolds really don't kill the noise as much as you think. I actually have a Telex 5x5 with soft silicone custom ($$) earmolds that I don't use for the above reasons. I'll just hold on to it until I fly something with a quieter cockpit. It's great in a Boeing, as is the Plantronics.

This cockpit is loud-as in 88-89 decibels. It's quiet below 10,000 then once we accelerate it gets loud quickly, peaking in the high teens at 315-320 KIAS. Unfortunately this is where much of our flying occurs, especially in ORD (and some EWR/IAH/CLE too) due to the short flights.

As much as I hate to say it, you will need something that goes on your head. I've tried Clarity Aloft, Quiet Tech, David Clark, Bose, and Telex and still use the Bose. Save your hearing!

Like pscraig mentioned, you're going to want a full headset. I used DCs during my time at XJT, and they were effective but not too comfortable.

I use the Plantronics with a custom ear mold on a different airplane now, but it's much quieter. That ERJ is ridiculous up front.

Alright thanks guys - guess I will keep the A20. Its as comfortable as you can get for an over the head. I was awarded the EWR base - and am quite excited. I dont plan on commuting, so that will help with my QOL. Thanks for the input! Have a happy labor day!
