Border Patrol to hire 200 surveillance pilots amid shortage

I'm not really sure what this means? Why don't they simply require 1,000 hours?
The position is open to pilots with a minimum of 1,500 flight hours, but 500 of those can be waived.

Because the dimwits writing these requirements as stated, aren’t pilots….

I looked into that. The guy mentioned I would likely end up based in Yuma. I said I was stationed there for two and a half years in the Marines. He said, "So you're familiar." Yeah familiar enough that I know I don't want go back there!

Yuma is one of the more exotic metropolis areas to be based, if you manage to not get assigned to plum locations like Alpine, TX, Deming, NM., or Aguadilla, PR……

I put in the app back in 2020 and I was suddenly enrolled in their onboarding pipeline. Like, Woah! I'm desperate but not 'move to New Mexico wilderness without talking it over desperate'.

Not to mention you have to go through Federal LEO training of some degree. You really have to want it.

Not sure if they still are, but in 2021 CBP was requiring a 3-year training contract. Someone posted the full text on APC.
