Bombardier vs. Embraer

Never flown a bombardier but I think the E145 has a bit of a leg up on the CRJ-200 because it's a newer design, is more fuel effecient, has FADEC and is generally less systems intensive to the pilots (more automated). I guess those things don't necessarily equate to "better" (except for the fuel) but in 3000 hrs of flying the thing I have to say I think the ERJ is a very safe and reliable airplane. I really don't mind it from a passenger standpoint either (I deadhead on it every once in awhile), especially if its one of ours with the XM radio.

Regarding the bigger ones, I think the E jets have a leg up when it comes to ease of operation and passenger comfort, but the CRJ 700/900 are more fuel effecient and cheaper to operate.

ERJ-135 blow monkey turds.

With a fleet of 30 135s and over 200 145s you'd fugure that with commonality in mind they spend more for the 135 subfleet than they save in the slightly marginally less fuel burn.

Plus Justin gets home before spending WAAAAYYYY too long in EWR.

:yeahthat: hehehe. man, i gotta get u on a stand-up routine.

See...I've gotta disagree on this one. From a purely pilot-oriented point of view (meaning I only care about my personal enjoyment, and not about whether the company makes any money), the E-135 is a blast to fly. I've flown a few pretty close to empty and it flies like a little cruise missile! :D

Alright lets argue over who's opinion is more rational. :D

I want to get home, I need more seats. 135 bad, 145 good, yes even a POS -ER. That is unless they sell the extra 13 seats. At which point Justin is just as angry as before.

I say the best is whatever gets me home. That was accomplished with 2 737s, a bus and a rent a car. No RJs got me home, so all RJs suck. As Seggy wrote, I hate RJs.

Chris, so with that rationale you think that one should buy a ticket everytime they want to get to/from work?

OTP wasn't traveling along, there were a few other mainline guys who were trying to get home.

Pass riding is a fringe benefit. You should not complain when your company is doing well enough to fill their airplanes. In the end, that's good for you. If you don't want to run into that issue, buy a ticket, otherwise, stfd and stfu

You could always contribute to the health of your own (or daddy's) company and, you know, BUY a ticket....

How did I get to vegas? Yep bought a ticket, but I certainly wasn't contributing to the health of the airline. If I dont NEED to be somewhere at a certain time, I non-rev. If I HAVE to someplace, I buy a ticket.

Can't take a bit of the humor you dish?;)

Ahh filling a 37 seat aircraft with high fuel expenses might not be the best indication the airline is doing well.

Actually, can't fill it to 37 seats maybe 34 seats because of weight restrictions. So explain to me how consistently being overweight, leaving passengers behind is 'good' for an airline.

The GSO station had to give out something like $75,000 in vouchers, denied boarding vouchers, etc when CHQ started their CRJ service from there to IAH this past summer. They were usually weight restricted to 40 seats out of 50.

Oh by the way, yes I have bought tickets for family when they have had to be there.

You weren't being humorous, you were whining. There's a difference... though not a lot of people on this board know that.

nope, not whining. Maybe a bit tired, but definitely not whining. I've been doing this non-rev thing for quite a while and know how to roll with the punches. Extra day in Dublin? I'll go drink more beer. Waste a day and night in EWR? thats a bit more frustrating. But thats how I roll.

"Master Caution!"

"Which is it?"

"It's the attention annunciator, sir!" :)

Thats how most of us feel when we are stuck in Jersey!:cwm27::banghead:
