Boeing Flight Dispatcher Position

Bustedcropdusta

Barry Seal’s Nephew

Looks like this went live this week. It’s a different style of “dispatching” more or less. Not sure which team (Military, Commercial, or Special Air Missions) but my money would be on it being for the MIL desk as they recently had somebody leave.

I don’t work there but I’m familiar enough with the operation so feel free to ask anything in the comments below or via PM. Best of luck to those that are interested!

What is the virtual aspect of this? Is the position remote? Or in Englewood?
The main office is based in Englewood (Suburb of Denver) but it’s only really used for initial onboarding and management. The job is 100% remote with a US based residency requirement. You have to be within a certain radius of a Boeing facility, but they’ll fly have offices all over the lower 48, as well as one in Maui I think? But don’t quote me on that one.

How many positions open? What's a competitive resume look like?
I wouldn’t know for sure, I saw someone mention it on r/Flightdispstch and figured I’d share the info. Before working for Boeing, most of the team members there had 121 DX experience. Some came from Regionals, others from ULCCs and Majors. Since the role initially was Denver based, many of the OG’s at the top of the seniority list still live in CO. That being said, others (as well as most new hires) live elsewhere. They have dispatchers on both coasts.

Worked here. It's interesting work and a solid intermediary step for those looking to go from a 121 regional to a major. You will get plenty of etops experience and a step up in pay from your regional jobs.

I was trying to get on with them for years when I was at a regional. A recruiter finally contacted me out of the blue when I had already been at a major for a while. After I got the starting pay range I told him TBNT. (It's a good step up from regional pay, though.)

Sorry for being repetitive here, but theoretically you can live anywhere in the lower 48 and work remotely? Or do you have to be close to Englewood?

You need to be within a certain distance of a Boeing office. I'd imagine it's within 100 miles drive or something like that, but that's just an example. You might need to be closer or can be farther away.

When i was there it was 1 hour from a boeing facility. It has to be a place where boeing has a tax presence.

Makes sense. They want you a reasonable distance to a Boeing office in case some kind of emergency happens and they want you there in person.

Out of pure curiosity, does anyone know what the starting pay is? Is there a pay scale?

There's a formal range somewhere, think somewhere between 50-60k to start... Non union, raises are merit based. Overnights had a 23% override when i left, you will NOT be working those for that reason.

Keeping in mind this was from 2019...I was told they started at just under 80K and there was normally an annual bonus (depending upon company profit) of around 5% of your pay per year. Definitely a respectable starting pay, but it was a lot less than I was already making, and of course they have no travel or jumpseat benefits. I would presume the pay has probably gone up some since then but that's just a guess on my part.

Definitely not 80k to start but the bonus and all the other stuff is right.

Yeah, as I said this was several years ago and I think the starting pay back then somewhat depended upon experience, although I'm not positive. Looking at the current job listing again, I see that it says "Summary Pay Range: $60,350 - $93,150" so that probably gives you a better idea - although if it's a pay scale, I have no idea how it would work.

From everyone I’ve known that’s gone there in recent years (2022-2024), starting pay was in the 75-85k range. They do have a substantial override for night shift though. I want to say around 25%. Annual bonus is based on company performance, look to their last 10 quarters of profit/losses and I’ll let you draw lines on how that’s going right now. Pay increases are performance based instead of a pay scale. Health insurance and 401k match are solid through.

Funny you say you thought the starting pay was $80k a few years back, because I had my eye on this since around 2019 as well. I swear the starting pay used to be around $80K and went up to over $100k. I was a little surprised to see this now. Seems they have lowered the pay. Either that or I was hallucinating, but I swear it was more of what you were saying. So I am guessing because of Boeing‘s hardships over the last few years they have lowered their pay, but that’s a pretty big drop if so. Still better than a regional, but still unusual to lower pay when everything else has gotten more expensive. Maybe also because it’s full remote now? Did not used to be.

I saw this the day it posted. Applied. I live in Denver. Been out of dispatch a few years, but I do have 10 years experience. I wouldn’t mind this job at all. How long does Boeing take with the hiring process?
