Blue Angels

Saw them on Saturday, pretty sick! That was my first time seeing them.

Good thing there wasn't a recruiter standing right next to me with a pen and paper.

Surf

did you see them at lemoore nas? my buddy flies f-18(super hornet) there....he sent me some pics..said they were flying over his house setting up for maneuvers over the field. what a life...im hoping to catch them in andrews afb in may.

PhotoPilot and I saw them for the first time, each, on Sunday. I can echo Surf's sentiments. However, the OK3 team made us want to skip the airline track, purchase two Extras and start our own aerobatic duo show. Ophir, I think Photo will be sending you some pictures of your boys.

Sweet, must have been good to watch...
Anyone see the blue angels FA18 HOrnet for sale on Ebay?
1million they were asking. Wish i had the money for that!

Happy flying

Yeah, the Blue Angels are great. A buddy of mine used to fly for them and I saw his show twice and I have seen it one other time after that. That show is such a jaw dropper!!

I used to live right at the end of the rw at Nellis Air Force Base. Right outside the gate. I could go outside, set up my lawn chair with a cold six-pack and watch the Thunderbirds doing maneuvers for hours. Oh the good old days.

The one and only time I got to see them (last year) the opposing solo had a mechanical problem on takeoff, so I got the diamond formation and ONE solo. No tuck-under roll, no high-speed head on passes.

JDFlight had to be prodded into going . . . somehow he thought earning money as a CFI was more important than going to an airshow.

I finally found a free hosting site and stuck some photos from the airshow up on the web. So far I've only waded through about 50 of the 200+ that I shot yesterday, but if you'd like to see a handfull of them, you can go to:

A day of airplanes, photography, and good friends . . . if only there had been a few nice bicycles!

If that's the red mig I think it is, that's one of the FO's I went thru recurrent training with back in 2001.

I was darned near born and raised at the Lemooore NAS airshows and wanted to be a Navy pilot from day one.

Long story why I didn't pursue that route...

He forgot to mention the hot chicks. Nothing better than airplanes, beer, airshow food and hot chicks. Except sharing the above with the good friends he mentioned.

I neglected to mention that because I never know when my wife might jump on the forum to see what I'm up to.

Heck, the CFI course has kept me so busy, she can probably keep up with me more easily by reading my posts than by the time we've spent together in the last week. It's been a 'Hi! I'm off to study . . . ' 'Ok. I'll see you later?'

She's massively supportive and wonderfully loving. Just wish we had more time together lately. But that's the story of a pilot's life, isn't it?

The pilot of the Mig is a retired USAF pilot named Bill Reeseman. As ugly as it is, that was one fast, zippy little plane. Quiet, too.

And JD was wrong about that being my first time seeing the Angels. I grew up seeing them almost every year at the Flint Airshow. Before I had to get corrective lenses, I thought I was going to be a naval aviator, too. Even talked to recruiters when I was in my early teens. Obviously it didn't pan out and I didn't think about making a living by flying for the next 12 years, but I can identify!

Went to ERAU, they only had AFROTC. Then I unfortunately discovered partying and being a sloth in college and the ROTC guys got up way too early.

A lot of fiercely competitive people that I didn't want to deal with either.
