Hey guys,

I just did a background check on myself, and found that I have one violation that occured 8/2003 for speeding 40 over the limit (limit was 35). The ticket was originally criminal traffic, but was pleaded down to civil traffic by an attorney. This is the ONLY violation I have on my record and it was nearly 4 years ago. How bad is this going to look to a prospective airline? This occured on my motorcycle, in a remote area, and I sold the bike shortly thereafter, because I didn't feel I could resist speeding while on a bike.

YOU ARE DOOMED!!!:sarcasm:

It will show a little immaturity on your part, but it was a few years ago. That coupled with the fact that you have gotten rid of the bike can be turned into a positive in an interview. Just admit your youthful mistake, take full responsibility and explain what you did to correct the behavior. Make it a positive.

You're fine. I was hired at two different airlines with a couple traffic violations from 4-5 years ago.

You should be fine, just fess up to it when they ask. If they find out about it later and found out you lied, then you in trouble.

I had 2 speeding tickerts and a failure to stop, and i got a job offer a few different airlines. And especially with the shortage they have going on now, a speeding ticket over 4 years ago is the least of their worries.

If someone refuses to hire you because you got a ticket for five mph over the limit, tell them to take the stick out.

They've got such a tight ass that you could take a lump of coal and their butt checks would turn it into a diamond in 30 seconds!

Dude - you're good. If it comes up, and thats and IF, just be able to answer these questions.

Why did you get the ticket?
What did you learn from it?

Next question....

Nah...the ticket was for 40 OVER the limit...ie 70 in a 30 :P. And to the other poster, the question asked on the application was "Have you ever been convicted of a felony?" I answered "No" because in my state felonies for traffic only occur when you flee from the cops -- DUI and reckless fall under "misdemeanor". Now that I think about it, i'm surpised I didn't get ticketed for reckless. Anyways, as I said before, the ticket was originally criminal traffic, but my attorney got it busted down to civil. It was a stupid thing to do, but advice is well taken. I'm sure they are gonna ask..."What possessed you to exceed the speed limit by 40mph?" To which my answer will be...."Ducati"...:P
