Bird Strike!

Had a bird strike tonight in my BE99 while on downwind for 33 @ FSD. My first and hopefully not many more to come. Kind of scary since I didn't see it coming until it hit my wing I even got to keep part of the snow goose as a reminder! CIMG9607.jpg

Atleast it looks like damage was at a minimum. Did it do any real damage?

Those damn snow geese are thick in the Dakotas right now. Ugh.

Glad it worked out ok. You BMJ or AIP?

Had a nearmiss last night with a flock of something an hour after sundown. At least you didn't take it in the windshield

No real damage that I know of. They're checking it over as I write this. And I work for AIP. Just keep telling myself I got lucky, in fact, when it hit I immediately thought of the guy in Sho Low's bird strike. No doctor for me, but I would like a clean pair!

Holy cow, or should I say goose?? That must of been one heck of a bump. I'm glad to hear everything is ok.

I think I posted this one before.

One of our 310s headed into FSD hit a duck one evening, maybe 13 months ago or so?

Diverted to RWF for obvious reasons.

I'm just happy it wasn't me, and JJ got out of it ok.

At least Wiley Coyote knows how to catch his man now. :D

Interestingly a friend of mine killed a coyote on rollout one night several months back. Didn't even notice it on postflight (almost no evidence left on the main gear strut) and it wasn't found until the maintenance did the next turnaround the following morning. They found the rest of Wiley out on the runway later on.

Well if there's any consolation besides the fact that you're OK, consider this.

The last thing that went through his mind was his ass...

Funny!

One of my friends who flies for Landmark out of SF hit a flock the next day. He had to return to the field. He calls me and the first thing he says, "Hey... funny story!"
