Big Thanks to AirTran...

Had a wonderful experience jumpseating home to Dallas from ATL this morning on an AirTran 717. They put me in Business class, which was very nice. Comfortable seats and XM satellite radio made the flight go by fast. Not to mention the 717 is the quietest and smoothest airliner I've ever been on. Fantastic experience for my first flight ever on AirTran. Thanks again!

I got a notice from the union js committee that they finally ended the "pay for the unlimited jumpseats" thing. Good on them.

Really? Sweet! I know they used to have a policy of first one road for free and anyone after them had to pay. Most stations would kinda let that go, but you would occasionally have the anal CSA that insisted, even if the CA said to put the JSer on no charge.

Good news since I might be making the MEM-ATL run soon.....

Damn straight!

Glad we took good care of you. We always try to look out for the jumpseaters. Now with the nonrev fee removed for additional jumpseaters, you can't find a better jumpseat ride than tha Tranny.

Got it. Thanks for the info.

I'm keeping my options open, and I'm considering the -900. The way things are going now, I can hold ATL before I can hold MEM, and it's a MUUUUCH easier commute than DTW or MSP. The only downside is there's a one year seat lock on the -900, so if MEM opened up, I couldn't switch back until my year was up or if we relaxed the seat lock with a new contract. I'm also still waiting to see what the pay rate is gonna be. Arbitrator is supposed to get back to us on that one by the end of this month.

Also, ATL is getting a lot of MEM overnights, so I'd be getting paid per diem to sleep in my own bed. :)

I'm assuming you are talking about holding CA? I thought you were pretty close to holding it in MEM?

I could have 2 months ago. Now, the vacancies for CA in MEM have dried up. I would have been about 200 spots shy of holding it on the last vacancy, and the current one only has 1 opening on the initial vacancy for MEM. So, I can wait for the vacancies to get bigger again.....or I can upgrade ASAP. Personally, I'm not looking to stay here a month longer than I have to, so if that means commuting....well, so be it.

Anyone got any suggestions on the best ride from SFO-NYC? Me and the mrs wanna go to SFO for a few days then onto NYC.
