STORY

Jet Blue, which rated highest on the list for the past three years, was bumped out of the top slot by Hawaiian, which made its debut on the list this year. The top three on the 18-airline list were Hawaiian, JetBlue and Air Tran, while the bottom three were, from worst to best, Atlantic Southeast, American Eagle and COMAIR.

Does not surprise me - regioanl airlines from my experience lack professionalism - I was sat in ORD with my Quiznos listening to crew in uniform talking about last weeks drinking stories, with some chosen 4 letter words. I am pretty low key, but was even tempted to write to the airline.

You know that would be a great idea for a business. A kind of research firm with people of aviation knowlege to conduct these reports each year. It would take that long to travel each U.S carrier and do a report once a year. Include worst states with delays from weather ect.

What is it with white people and writing letters?

Not suprised at all. What do you expect when "they" (you know, they) are hiring with such low min's. Doesnt really bring the cream to the top.

I couldnt agree more. Sometimes I'm so embarrassed to even be associated with these same people. It's as if they have no idea of the world around them. Nothing else exists. It's not as if they are in uniform and are drawing extra attention to themselves(sarcasm).

My crew and I decided to go get some food about a year ago, and while standing in line at La Salsa, our flight attendants phone rings. She answers it by saying," HEY WHATS UP HOOKER? AHHH FK YOU". And it was loud enough for the 20 people standing around us to turn around and look at us.

I just about sank beneath the floor. She had no idea what she had just done, nor would she of cared it she did.

Well, Omar and lain, I beg to differ. I think that it is indivduals in the minor leagues that are making you and possibly others think badly of the profession.

But to say that all regional pilots or flight attendants in the industry lack professionalism is a giant generalization to say the very least!

I think FlyChicaga has a great perspective on professionalism and public image, I'll have to dig it up and repost on my next break.

Max- I've had countless times where things have come up that support what iain says. I wish I could spill the beans, but I elect to plead the 5th(not meaning that I was involved, just that I observed some questionable things, not illegeal, or against policy, just questionable).

I think that if the regionals spent some time in ground school with regards to behavior and professional appearance, it would make a world of a difference.

I myself take a lot of pride in what I do. The basics sometimes seem like going above and beyond. but it really isn't. Like shaving everyday, having a neatly pressed shirt, pants, and tie. Wearing your hat and coat(weather permissible) while walking thru the terminal or in front of passengers. Not looking like you ate the enter buffett the day before at sizzler(no I don't go there, nor have I since I was 7...lol).

I understand that sometimes its 100 degrees outside, and the hat and sport coat get axed, but the things I see around the ramp sometimes is ridic.

I once had a flight attendant throw on a sean john fleece over his uniform while still on the plane at an outstation. Then his backpack over that. Then we walked thru the terminal past all the pax that were waiting for their bags. If you don't see something wrong with that, you need to re-think what professionalism is.(and by you, I don't mean you max, just speaking in general terms lol).

The captain and first officer are superior to flight attendants. I would have pulled her aside and had words. If that was ineffective...then to the chief pilot's office.

Lack of professionalism/decorum breeds mediocrity...and mediocrity causes problems. You don't need any problems with your crew.

...and drinking an import while watching the market recap. Bonus points for having Coldplay as background noise. :)

It gives us something to do while eating mayonaise sandwiches, wearing Dockers, and listening to Dave Matthews. :D

Well, not to side track this thread. But most of my white friends are letter writers.

My ex got mad once because the 15 yr. drive through worker didn't look at him while handing him his food or smile. He wrote a letter.

When my letter writing friends start bitching about service, and threatning to fire off a letter. I ask them why not just go inside and speak to the manager personally. They always refuse.

I shouldn't generalize, but that has been my experience.

Edit: And before anyone pulls the race card. Most black people don't seem to ask questions, they sit back and just accept things the way they are, even if they're not satisfied. It seems like asking questions is anti black.

Max, it's not just letter-writing to complain. It's all a code- part of our secret infranet structure to maintain control of the world.

To whom it may concern:

Holla!
