Supposedly some farmer near Cedar City, UT cut into a fiber optic line and pretty much crippled our little airline Thursday! Phone lines in and out of St. George were severly limited so we got no release paperwork or access to our internal network! Our employee 800 number was OTS and I kept getting the "all circuits busy" message when I tried the standard 435 area code number. I actually had to file my own flight plan on 800WXBRIEF! gasp! I don't know when the last time I used that number was!

Things seem to be back to normal now, but what a day!

That is an emergency. I told my (military background) cockpit partner last week that I used to be able to file a flight plan on the second radio between the FAF and the runway on a single-pilot ILS approach to minimums (only a slight exaggeration). Now I wouldn't know where to start. This was while we were waiting in Mexico for our dispatch system to come back online.
