Bad Credit and Loans

Flight training is not a real education? You can make good money as a CFI or a Freight dog. Which is what I actually want to do. I don't plan on getting a 4 year degree.

Not really and to find a good job you need a 4 year degree. An airline is going to pick somebody with a 4 year degree with slightly less hours than you. Take a good look at the competitive mins at each airline.

Nope. First off I don't plan on going to the regionals until I have payed off my loans. $1350 a month as a CFI? Maybe entry level but their are better jobs in Arizona and Florida.

Hmm...where are these people are waiting around with no jobs out here in AZ.

But if I get my ratings now I will be in a better position when the economy gets better.

You may have the ratings but there is a surplus of pilots lessening your chances of getting hired.

Chris Ford strikes again! :laff:

He was supposed to be my instructor at MPD but he never showed up leaving me without an instructor for 3 weeks. I'm glad we never met.

If this guy is this impulsive now, what happens when the stress starts in the flightdeck.

Hazardous attitudes training in ground school will be shocking for him...

Is jspeed87 serious?[/quote

jspeed is indeed serious. My goal for this year is to get rid of my debt. Hopefully by summer or late spring I will see if I can get a loan. Some people just gotta do what they got to do. I have all the support from my dad to do this. Most people will advise me to pay as you go, or debt is bad. I thank you guys for the advice, but in the end this is what I want to do.

Why ask for advise if you are not willing to take it seriously? Everyone has told you not to go into debt, but you come up with gems like this, "in the end this is what I want to do". So all you hear is do not do it, but you say f-that these people do not know what they are talking about.<TABLE class=tborder style="BORDER-TOP-WIDTH: 0px" cellSpacing=1 cellPadding=6 width="100%" align=center border=0><TBODY><TR title="Post 1065324" vAlign=top><TD class=alt1></TD></TR><TR><TD class=thead colSpan=2></TD></TR><TR title="Post 1065265" vAlign=top><TD class=alt2 align=middle width=125></TD><TD class=alt1>
</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

And 4 years from now when he cannot feed or shelter himself, he will have exactly what he deserves. :(

Have you considered becoming an ATC in the mean time? Or what about getting your dispatcher's license and working for a regional? Do you have any interest serving in the military?

ATC requires exceptional judgement...something he obviously lacks. Besides, they do credit checks during the ATC hiring process (likely for that very reason). He wouldn't pass.
