Some pics from a recent flight, B744 LHR - HKG.

We fly down an airway that passes over some of the highest terrain in the world (Eastern Kazakhstan & North Western China), sorry about the iPhone quality pics, but it gives you an idea of what it looks like on a clear day.
The arrival into HKG had us pass directly over Macau, which you can rarely see due to the 'mist/haze' (read: pollution).

Nice pictures.

I was on Macau a couple weeks ago; all those HKG arrivals looked a lot lower than you appeared to be from the picture. Couple dots above the profile? :p

I look forward to seeing some more of yours.

Taking a stab at it, but it looks like a bailout procedure through the mountains in case of a decompression, engine failure or something else that requires a speedy descent.

Hi Nick, yep we were a bit higher than usual. More often than not we use RWY 07L/R. On that particular day we were going the long way around for a landing on 25R, which gives a bunch of extra track miles - which on such a clear day, gave us a great view of HKG and its surroundings... wish I had the SLR camera with me!

Fly22, Im with Cathay Pacific.

PGT, The blue dotted line on the ND shows what we've got programmed in Route 2 of the FMS. Handy for a secondary flight plan with our escape routes programmed in. So, in the event of a rapid despress, we know exactly where to go and we can execute that plan with a press of a button. The dotted lines to the right of track head to an airport called Kashi, the dotted lines to the right take us to Urumqi.

Some more pics - 1, De-icing in Frankfurt this past Winter. 2, The 400 at LHR. 3, Passing overhead with some nice contrails.

* I can't seem to rotate the pics

It is something u have to do before you upload the pictures. What kind of photo program u use? I have Window photo gallery and there is an icon on the bottom where you can rotate to the right or left. Just be sure you save the rotated pictures otherwise u did all that work for nothing.

Found some I took on the SLR on an ANC freighter trip, got lucky with some beautiful weather and sunsets. The Classic was parked over the taxi-way from us, and the flightdeck pic was heading West chasing a long sunset home.

Awesome photos!:rawk:

I think we are up to three whale drivers around here now. If you end up here in ANC for a long layover let me know.
