Axe Man Runs Amok on Norway Plane, Injures Pilots

Torseter said the axe had probably not been carried on board the Kato Air flight 605, but was possibly installed for use in case of fire.

For emergency purposes or not, carrying an axe for any purpose during a commercial flight is not a good idea.
 
A crew on that ASA Brasilia that crashed back in the 1990's might have a different opinion!

Obviously the axe shouldn't be where a pax can get it. Then it's primary purpose becomes to dispatch people going where they shouldn't be.

They just had a one show on this accident a few days ago. On discovery channel or somethin.

Aiplane went down in a field. F/O trapped in cockpit had to chop his way out through the windshield. Actually he made a hole then passed the axe out to a passenger who finished it. this while airplane was burning.
 
They can take my crash axe when they pry it from my cold, dead hands.

yeah, and you can definately strangle somebody with a pair of pants. None of those should be allowed either.

Getting on my SWA flight the other day, I had to do a double take. A guy was carrying on a fishing pole collapsed into three pieces. It looked EXACTLY like a kendo stick. Now, how a kendo stick and a baseball bat are prohibitted items and that wasn't is beyond me.......

If you put it in there for like a minute maybe. A couple of seconds seems to be alright. I can't attest to the long term effects, though. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
