just wondering what you all think is one of the better aviation magazines out there. i know there are many for different situations, but whats the overall winner in your opinion???

AOPA's flight training is a good one, Flying magazine also delivers nice info. For me the overall winner is AOPA's flight training.

Flight International

Airways

Airliner World

In that order. After 25 years of reading Flying and AOPA Pilot I get bored with most of the articles now.

I personally like AOPA Flight Training.

FLYING....I just end up looking at pictures.

Business and Commercial Aviation is a good one if your interested in corporate.

AOPA is pretty good too, but is kind of confusing. Member benefits are the great thing about AOPA.

I have a subscription to Flying and I don't care too much for it (other than the pictures). Most of the articles seem ill tailored for the majority of GA pilots - "Choices: Whether to buy an older King Air, or a new Pilatus" They work on the assumption that everyone has hundreds of thousands of dollars lying around to update or upgrade their aircraft.

Les Asbend writes a column for them - he's an American CA - it's pretty good, he just talks about stuff he experiences on the line. Richard Collins comes off as pretty arrogant, though - God's gift to aviation. I just wish there more in there on flying tips - and more accident analysis. I guess that's what AOPA Flight Training is good for, if you can fight through pages and pages of ads for academies.

:yeahthat:

Although, I don't care for Asbend, he comes off as arrogent to me and that whatever he says should be done.

Some articals in AOPA are arrogent to, like "when I flew B-52s, we could land them in 30kt crosswinds like it was kicking back on a lazyboy!" Thats nice, but tell me how it helps when flying a Tramuahawk.

I like Airliner World the best. Keeps me updated on news about all types of Airlines and lets me know about the new ideas that Airlines are experimenting with. And of course AOPA and Flying Magazine are good.
