ATTENTION Airnet pilots

Are airnet gonna stick with the cheque flying business or move into on demand charter flying?

Are the working hours (Mon-Thurs) stable hours, or is there any unpredictable flying schedules?


Is it a good stable job, especially if you have a family?

Also, I'm from the UK, do Airnet hire or work visa sponsor foreign pilots?

Why would (should?) they? There's an overabundance of qualified pilots right here.
 
Well why not not?!! I was just wondering as it seemed like a great opportunity. And you dont get many jobs like that anywhere else in the world. Not trying to start no argument or make this political, but my point is that all airline pilots must look at the world as their oyster, especially if good opportunities turn up. There are thousands of US pilots working in all corners of the globe in an already fiercely competitive industry anyway. And I know foreign pilots work for US airlines too!
 
While true, ESF is right in that we've got too many pilots over here already. There is a reason that those U.S. pilots are heading out of the country to fly. Jobs are tough to come by here.
 
i understand that, and realise that countries would need to protect their jobs and industry. but was just wondering if US companies do sponsor if the candidate was right.
 
It's not a matter of protection, it's a matter of competition. You've got hundreds of people like ESF marching around with 1,200TT and 400 multi that are ripe to be hired...but there are not that many jobs. Thankfully the regionals are hiring again, and there are other jobs out there like instructing and whatnot; but a place like Airnet is not doing much if any hiring.

I would doubt they would sponser a foreign citizen for working here when there are tons of other pilots they can hire without that kind of hassle. If you really want the job over here, get on over here, get the right to work here (through citizenship or otherwise) and get hired.

Actually, last I heard from their hotline, they're doing a decent amount of hiring.

I don't think they're so short on pilots that they'll go sponsoring Visas, however. I could be wrong though, best thing to do would be to call their pilot recruitment office and ask.
 
Heh, my flight school WISHES they weren't hiring. When I started looking for an MEI, it was like "he's leaving, she's leaving, he's gone already...." My CFI-I got hired at Airnet a couple of months ago, and they took about 5 of our CFIs in one WEEK. Between them and Flight Express, I have a large chunk of contacts now.
 
I have one in there, but last time I updated it was around 900 hrs. For the time being, I'm going to try to stick it out where I am. I've got too many good opportunities here. Upgrading to King Air PIC soon, and typed F/O in the Lear whenever the insurance company decides I have enough turbine time to give me their blessing (they said around 300 hrs- I can live with that). I'm having a hard time with the prospect of giving that up for anything at this point (keeping in mind that I have zero interest in flying for any 121 airline).

You cannot sponser a pilot even if you wanted to.

In order to sponser someone for a position you have to show that you cannot fill the position with someone who already has "right to work"...aka a citizen or green card holder.

Either plan on working in the EU and figure out some way to get a green card.

Yup, mine bolted three weeks before my PPAMEL ride for Airnet. He digs it.
 
A close buddy of mine is the Assistant Director of Pilot Recruitment there. He says they are hiring like crazy. Lots of resumes flying across the desk each day. Got a bunch (like 5) friends recently hired there, within the past 3 months.
 
I understand that there is a new law being proposed concerning cancelled checks ... The banks now will be allowed to do so electronially thus eliminating the expess of flying cancelled checks. Any one have more accurate information concerning this chime in.

Hey, does this buddy of yours say if they hire from anyone from a certain school because they went to that school or does it not matter. I noticed they have agreements with few schools but what about the schools that are not listed. Also I'm from Ohio and know Airnet is based out of Columbus, do they hire many from Ohio State or not? I'd really like to work for them to build hours. I only have my pvt now trying to figure out what route to to do the inst comm and extras if needed. It's either go to Columbus to a FBO and go to Ohio State for degree or go to a school like UND or get degree and go to a acclerated school. thanks.

Jim, I believe that AirNet has been preparing for that for quite some time. They still fly SOME cancelled checks, but they also have been flying other small freight as well for a couple of years in order to help start the transistion.

They fly things like radioactive medical material, body parts..... other crap....

They are also getting into the charter business (if my information serves me correctly) with some of their Lears.

I think AirNet will be okay.
 
I was just talking about this with a friend over the weekend as there's a cargo outfit next to my flight school that flies a lot of cancelled checks.

I'm not sure. I can ask him when I talk to him next. I would just say give it a shot when the time comes. They hire a wide variety of people, mostly based on personality from what he says.

Airnet does have agreements with some university flight programs, I do not know all of them but I know Ohio State sends some of their students there, as well as Ohio University. We recently had a CFI into our FBO from Ohio Univ. and he said that their CFI's there quite often will go to Airnet.
