ATP VS. Sheble

Looking to get my ATP ride done within the next year. Have the written done (thank you Sheppard Air, great program BTW) and just need the practical done. Any experience in either of those programs, or any other suggestions? Thanks.

They are probably both real similar. ATP has more locations.

I suggest asking your local flight school for an excelerated program. You'll get more personal attention and chances are more likely that you can get a more experienced instructor.

Be wary of any instructor "just building time".

Tell us about yourself:

Whats your TT?

Any unique flight time?

Turbine time?

How much for each program?

What I'm trying to pry out of you is leading up to my thought: that taking an ATP checkride in a seminole or travelair may cost more and be harder than a taking an ATP checkride as part of a type rating.

There are some places that will do this for cheaper than you may expect.

I had an outstanding experience doing my ATP multi with ATP. Check the specials on their site periodically and see if you can find one in your location. I paid $1199 for the five hour program with the written exam which I feel was a very fair price. If you'd like any particular details PM me and I'll be happy to help out.

I did my commercial multi there, have nothing but good things to say about the place.

Woah woah woah! First step here is ask yourself and allow others to assess this but, "Are you of good moral character here?" Proceed if the answer is yes, but even then its doubtful. Lol

I just rented a Seminole and used a DE. I was actively instructing in the airplane I took the checkride in however.

Well 2kish is pretty cheap. I thought it was 5k or so through ATP. I was thinking you could get yourself a Cj (525) rating for about 7k out of CRQ. That is more than 3X the price of the quoted price at ATP. I just don't think that with your experience getting more seminole hours is going to help.

2k is cheap and an ATP is important to have. I can't say which school I would go to. I went to Sheble for my CFI and they were pretty disorganized. I went to ATP for the written prep and they didn't really impress me either.

Did my MEI at Sheble. PM me for more info about the school.

I agree. It's not going to help me much, but for a job requirement I need to have my ATP within the next year. Equipment I'm going to be in doesn't require a type raiting, however.

Why not take the ATP ride as you do a 135 ride? thats how we do it and its free. I could do a lot of fun things with 2 K. Or if you dont do the 135 rides anymore, go rent a twin and fly a few hours with a safety pilot then find a DE.

I can get my ATP SE at flight safety on the caravan, can get ATP on flight safety initial for the C90 which doesn't need a type, etc
