ATP Score, is it a big deal?

I am studying for the ATP written, I think that I could go in there today and get a mid 80's score. I could keep studying and break into the 90s or I could get it over with now and spend my time studying systems and preparing for the interview.

Is it worth the extra time to get a high score or does anyone even look at that? I am just wondering because I do not have a lot of time to get everything together.

Thanks

I've yet to go to an interview where my score was even mentioned. It seemed that as long as it was passed that was the end of it. Some places might base the difficulty of the tech portion on your score but I haven't seen it personally.

Do your best, obviously, but if it were me I'd just pass it and study up on other items. Be prepared to show them you're a well rounded candidate that they can spend 4 days with in a telephone booth and not want to punt children.

Best of luck!

Are you using Sheppard Air? If your practice tests are mid 80's go take it now. They say that if you take the test within 24 hours of taking their practice test, your score should be +/- 2% from your practice test.

Sheppard Air had a guarantee that if you scored below like a 80 or something that they would refund you. I tried to score below that level in order to get the refund but I still got like a 90.

Take the test. My highest written score is somewhere in the 80's. somehow I have passed all of my practicable without even hearing a peep from the examiner. They all know it's a rote memorization tool and don't care really what you get unless you didn't pass.

Shep air is fantastic. You will pass if you do what they tell you to do. Does your score matter? No. But don't get a written test failure when you can avoid it.

I used ShepardAir, took the test, scored in the 80's then got my money back for the test prep. Win win win win.

PS: I've never ever heard of any written test score coming up on a 121 ATP checkride.

I got an 83% on the ATP written. When I met my examiner for the ATP practical and CE-525(s) type he looked at the score and made a disparaging remark. Then he asked me questions about the airplane and I totally nailed it. He seemed less concerned. During the ride in he actual airplane I taught him how to use the Pro line 21 avionics. He was really happy with that and didn't give one wank about my ATP written.

Well I figured a high score might give me a edge on an interview... Not so much concerned about the check ride.

I did end up going with shepherd air and I pulled out a 95. Hopefully I can retain some of what i crammed!

Words come to mind, but none of them can be safely used in Derg's living room...

No one has ever asked me about it outside of the ATP checkride.

My highest score on a written is an 86%. That's including the FOI which I think I got a 76% on. I've yet to have one examiner questions my score and I (knocking on all the wood I can find) haven't had an issue with any of my check rides. If you know what you are talking about and can demonstrate you understand the knowledge then you will be fine.
