ATP Price Increase June 1

I am 95% confident that I will pursue my training with ATP. I have a degree in chemistry, and didn't care a great deal for that. I will finish a MEd this summer and have taught HS for a couple fo years, but it is not my "calling" either. Over the last year I have looked at many schools. I like ATP because I can get my PPL at a locally at WPB and by the time I finish everything (degree/teaching) this summer, I can relocate easily to ATL area and teach in Fulton Co where teacher pay is better, and I like the area better there than S FL. While doing this I can train with ATP of the afternoons and weekends. I spoke with Jim today about getting the ball rolling, and he mentioned that in order to pay the "old" price for the current program that I will need to enroll prior to Jun 1, because at that time there will be about a 5K increase in the career pilot program due to a CRJ prep that will then be a part of their program. It consists of SIM time as well as time in a motion SIM. Although it is a nice aspect, I prefer to pay the current price, so I most likely will be enrolling before this change takes effect. I figured I would post this so that others may be informed of the upcoming change.

Whats the news on the CRJ prep class? I haven't heard anything about this. I'm scheduled to start in july at the atlanta location so would the 90 day course that I'm scheduled to do include the CRJ sim and prep course now? Or would you have to pay the additional 5k? Just curious... as this is news to me... Anyone else have any information regarding this?

WHY the hell are they doing that??? Will the CRJ training be optional? I sure don't want to pay for such training twice!

That kinda sucks. Who is going to hire someone to fly a CRJ that has only 300 hours TT? Seems like the CRJ thing should be something you could do extra down the road when you get to the point where you can start applying.

The average ATP grad will finish with around 100hrs single time, and about 190 ME time and now this CRJ thing that you will forget half of by the time you need it. You will still have a pretty good road to go till you are hireable right?

Is this TRUE or a rumor?

Wow.. All very good questions.. I am scheduled to start April 19th and have not heard anything about any RJ stuff.. I got my deposit in, so I locked in the "old" price, however, I wonder if I'll get the RJ fun?

Mesa. But you have to pay for their CRJ training--by way of MAPD PACE. And frankly, I imagine PACE is enough of a challenge without having to unlearn whatever CRJ procedures ATP adopts.

I can't make sense out of this either... it seems they are taking a step towards the Delta academy method... they have the CRJ trainer also training kids with 300 hours... I mean, can you even log that time? If I went to an interview 1500hrs down the road and showed them a logbook with all this jet stuff, they will stuff me!

Why not keep the training real: do the ratings you need for now, to get a job NOW, and make the price reflect that!

I'll believe it when I see some more evidence that it's really gonna happen, I doubt it's even true.

Doesn't it seem odd that the people attending now havn't even heard of this CRJ thing. That guy probally dialed the wrong flight school.

I just called ATP and and talked to someone there working the phones. I asked about the CRJ deal and was told that it would NOT be part of the ACPP.

She did say that the 90-day program is scheduled for a price increase soon and although she is not sure of the exact increase she said a good ball park figure would be up to $36,000. I can understand that with the price of fuel, etc. etc.

She also said that they will have a CRJ prep program soon and that will be available seperate from the 90-day program for people who need/want that training when they feel it will help them before that interview.

Glad to see they are keeping the program real, and with that, ATP is still in the lead for getting my loan money!

I hope they aren't going to keep raising prices, even though they are still much lower than the larger schools

Yeah no kiddin! I am hoping for a start date between Nov and Feb. Figure that should get me enough time to finish the private and get plenty of x-country time in, not to mention being able to save up a bit to get a laptop and not have to worry about bills while I'm gone for 3 months.

Anyone know how long in advance you can "lock in" at a set price?

That's what I did back in late Jan even though my ACPP program will not begin till Aug. Fuel prices are on the rise (don't count on them going down till the Russians get things going) and fuel cost make up a significant portion of the program.

The rumors are true. Just checked ATP's website. At the bottom of the following link you'll see that both the accelerated and 10-month career programs will include CRJ-200 training. With the new training comes a price jump for the programs to a tune of $40k total

starting 6/1. For those individuals that do NOT wish to receive the newly included CRJ-200 training and would like to lock-in at the current price must have their deposits in by 5/31 and start the program by 8/1.

This really ticks me off. I think this opens me up to looking at other schools again. Why the hell do they think someone with 300 hrs needs to know how to fly an RJ? What are the chances you actually end up flying a CRJ anyways?

I hope the owners of ATP read this.

Goes to show you that the people behind the desk don't always know what is going on then as they told me incorrect information just a few days ago.

Damn! Relly upset!

That sucks their doing that, they should do it as an option not mandatory, so the 90% of us that don't want it don't have to pay for it. Ari-Ben will be getting even more students after this change I bet, at appx. 15K cheaper for almost the exact same program(including ppl.), Ari's looking better every day.

What good is it gonna do me to sit in a CRJ sim for a few hours. I still have to build time for at least another year after that. Like I'm gonna remember any of that CRJ training. Anyway, the airlines are going to have to train you at their expense when you finally do get there anyway, what a waste.

I wish I could consider Ari. I'm married, live in the mid-atlantic, work 9-5 and was hoping to do the 10-month ATP course at an airport about 30 minutes from my house. It was the perfect setup; good school, appropriate training, multi-time, compatible schedule, close to home, and affordable (relatively speaking). This whole CRJ thing really puzzles me!

Only if you choose to go to an airline that requires you to PFT, I won't pay for training at an airline - no way, i'll wait for a better offer to come along.
