ATP Prep

I'm hoping to get my ATP license before the end of the year, and I want to start studying for it. I don't want to just get the test prep, memorize the questions, and pass the written. Don't get me wrong, I want to ACE that test, but I also want to have the knowledge and understanding of the material. Planning on getting Sheppard Air for the test prep, but does anybody have a good recommendation on a textbook for ATP study? Also, any pros/cons on getting the ATP 121 or 135?

The most important thing you should take away from the ATP written is that it's an outdated exam and measures almost nothing other than how well you can memorize stuff. A lot of that exam has no real world application. There's questions about HAZMAT, what you can and cannot carry. Welp, in 121 or 135 operations their GOM will provide the information you need to know about HAZMAT. Same goes for weight and balance and many other topics, 121 or 135, it's going to vary by company. Just get the Sheppard Air 121 prep, memorize the answers and take the exam.

If you want to learn and understand the material, go with Gleim or the King videos.

As the previous poster says, Sheppard Air is pure rote memorization, though you will pick up some factual knowledge on the FARs and such. You will pass the test though!
