I really doubt it matters if you have a degree or not for an instructor job - but you should have at least an associates degree if you plan on getting anywhere after instructing.
The requirements to get into the program say 2 year degree OR work exp., so pretty much anyone with the cash can get in.

ATP will hire just about anyone as a flight instructor including an applicant without a degree. They do prefer hiring products of their own programs however. I know a flight instructor that worked out of Jax who had over 1000 hours when he was 19 years old. When he hit his hours mark, he went back to Montana and started attending college. You can do it any way and it doesn't matter how or when. Just get a degree at some point. It shows that you are well-rounded. So don't worry about not having a degree. Good luck.
