ATP in the FBO biz now!

You've gotta give ATP credit for not sitting on their hands. If there is a way to make money, they try to do it. Must be run by some smart people.

i dont know what the going rate is for fuel in that part of the country but 4.01 is a really good price!

I was down in DAB back in July and decided to give them a try. Actually was quite impressed with the ATP Jet Center. I experienced great service, very nice fuel prices for FL and the facility while not real big was very nice.

It probably helped calling ahead and letting them know I was an ATP'r...

Also, they have partially integrated the flight school into the FBO building, but have stuff in another building as well. I believe they are planning something similar in Arlington GKY.

From the What ATP Jet Center Customers Say section:

"For example, I took my written IFR test on Christmas Eve! Where else would someone have made a special trip in to work on Christmas Eve, for no extra pay, just to sit and wait for a student from another school take a written test?!"

Man, that guy who came in to proctor the written test on Christmas Eve must have been a total loser to not have anything better to do!

Same guy also said,
treated me like I was an honored guest each day and even entertained my wife in their pilots lounge while I was off taking my IFR oral exam and my checkride.

Pilots eager to talk to a female...whut?

For a big airport, it really isn't bad. I think if you flew around the Daytona area, you might be able to save another 30 to 40 cents a gallon, but not too much more. I've been in there once, with a buddy who wanted to go talk about signing up to do some training at ATP. Looked like a really nice place.

When I was working for ATP we had a guy sign up for the FEX at the last minute on Super Bowl Sunday. I was the only instructor who was around (the other guys had all bailed already for parties) so I got stuck with it. The guy shows up at 8 in the morning and starts off by saying "I will be done in time for the kickoff... don't worry". And he was.

I was mocking myself with that post. I was the loser who spent Christmas proctoring a written. The guy was taking his Instrument check ride on Christmas day and the examiner was leaving for China the next morning. I felt bad that he'd have to wait another 5 days if he didn't do the written. He took the entire allotted time! I think I watched every YouTube video ever made while I sat there waiting. I was still able to get my girlfriends present wrapped before she got home!

More power to ya. Thought ATP was closed for the Christmas holiday anyway?? Christmas eve as well? I remember missing the superbowl '07 because of 3 Saudi Air pilots taking their ATP writtens, and yes the full 3 hours extended from 6-9. I used to HATE that. Any other day nothing like that, right when you have a holiday or special event, the schedule fills up. I remember waiting for them and asking myself, "Do these people have a life, why today?" They pride themselves for operating as close to an airline as possible, yet where was my per diem and duty pay those proctoring days? :dunno:

We did close for Christmas Eve/Day, but his instructor was a buddy of mine from another flight school. So it was either stay home with my girlfriend's dog and watch "A Christmas Story" or help the guy out. In all fairness, he did give me a Christmas gratuity for coming in (after the exam was over of course).

Gotchya, yeah done that before. When it comes to friends and buds, you do what you would want done for you.
