Atlas Air Dispatcher position

Stupidly Optimistic
This morning before work I saw a Dispatcher position open for Atlas Air. I was thinking about putting in an application tonight when I got home, but the listing is gone now. Has anyone else seen this opening? Did anyone apply? Interviews???

I know it's too late, but what can you all tell me about Atlas? QOL, shifts, pay, living near CVG/Erlanger KY?...

Well I can tell you about living in CVG. Atlas isn't here YET. They are still in Purchase, NY. Cost of living is much cheaper than New York. I'm at Southern but from what I know, Atlas schedule is 5 on 3 off 8.5 hr shifts. Starting pay is about $27 an hour.

Starting pay is $30

Does Atlas/Polar/Southern routinely hire dispatchers with a ticket but no prior 121 experience? I'm still a little over a year away from turning 23, but starting to scout places out. I do have a bit of station flight ops experience (they call it assistant flight dispatcher), but its not actual 121 dispatch.

I imagine it would be very difficult to get on as dispatch at Atlas without prior 121 experience... best bet would be to 2-3 years of 121 experience *with some international* and then apply.

When i was at SAI a year ago they want you to have the two years experience. Things may have changed as some management has left.

Interesting... The listing stated that the position was in Erlanger, KY. I'd never even HEARD of Erlanger, KY before!

Thanks for the info. By experience, do you mean aviation/ops experience in general or 121 DX experience specifically?

Anyone know how many they are looking to hire?

3 were hired from the previous Polar position interview group. I imagine there won't be anything for a few months until the move which should be June to the month of #whotheheckknows from what I hear.

Last guy hired had 1 year of domestic 121 and 1 yeah of international 121 dispatching, and an aviation degree. Probably will need two of those three to have a chance, after that it's interviewing skills, attitude and knowledge.
