Hi there,

We are looking for a volunteer for an ATC related project.

This is a non-commercial project which aims to combine a variety of Air Traffic Control and Air Traffic Flow
Management information from around the world.

Requirements:

1. An understanding of, and interest in, Air Traffic Control procedures as they relate to Air Traffic Flow management
2. An understanding of aviation abbreviations, and acronyms
3. A general appreciation of World Geography
4. A basic familiarity with computers, and the internet

Remuneration/Payment:

Initially, this is a non-remunerated position. We seek some bright minds to assist in developing the idea.
As we develop the further, we will consider ad-hoc payments/gifts as a thank you for the ongoing cooperation.

To note as well, if this assignment is successful, there would be the opportunity for further work, similar but
perhaps on a larger scale, as we progress.

If you are interested, please direct all questions to atfm.project@gmail.com

Is this only open to Americans? If not I would be interested so long as there is no conflict of interest for me

I don't think he'll be checking back. That user name (when googled) has posted on a number of forums.

This from a ham radio forum:

Hello all,

Thought this might be of interest to some of you:

A Canada-based Aviation Services Company is looking for volunteers for a number of small aviation related projects.

The initial projects contain the following elements: Air traffic control, Airways and route availability, flow management, Airport and runway availability, HF and VHF radio use.

In our group of volunteers we would like to include the following:

- An aviation enthusiast
- A Radio hobbyist, interested in HF & VHF Aero listening
- A spotter - civil aircraft
- Someone interested in SBS/Airnav Radar
- An overflight/contrail/dot-spotter
- A flight simulator enthusiast

The involved person should also have a relatively good understanding of computers and the internet, and world geography.

Some further points:
- You would need a few hours per week to devote to the project, not much more.
- There is no remuneration initially, however as the project develops there is definite scope for reward.

If you are interested, have some time to spare, and fit the profile, please contact: atfm.project@gmail.com

With that in mind, I'd like a little more information about what they want from me/what I'd be doing before I would sign up.

So, OP, if you come back, maybe so more information of what you want from people?

Agreed, might be interesting, but the fact it is posted on multiple forums seems spammy and I'd want some more details.

Coincidentally this person also posted on an Argentinean forum I read. He replied there (once) so lets give him a chance to explain what is it that he wants from us.

Hey folks

Thanks for the feedback. Sorry for the delay in answering your posts - I didn't get notification of the posts and have only just had a chance to check back.

Yeah, I get that it looks 'spammy'. Hard to avoid- the type of person that I want to join the projects is pretty specific I guess - so really just trying to generate some interest and see how that goes.

To answer your questions - its open to anyone, anywhere - its much more about your interests than who or where you are.

OK - let me list a few specific items so you can see if its interesting or not.
Some of these are headed in a commercial direction - the majority are not - they are pretty much all personal interest pet projects of mine that I want to get around the developing further.

- A worldwide ETOPS airport favourite list with current weather picture for each (eg. Shannon, Santa
Maria, Sal Island, Christmas Island, Male, etc.)

- A worldwide airspace picture - with input from ATC, ATFM Flow control portals, Notams, etc. on each
continent. Ultimately designing a map to include that data.

- Collecting some interesting radio VHF/HF listener reports, and using this data to update content

- A review of the use of SBS-Radar data for use in an airspace picture

- Finding community representatives for each continent, and looking at sources of current ATC,
AIC/AIRAC/NOTAM data

- A look at the worlds Oceanic Areas and what information we can develop there. North Atlantic/NAT Tracks,
Pacific Ocean/PACOTS, Indian Ocean AORRAs, EUR/SAM corridor. HF Radio and its use, the development
of CPDLC, and ADS-B.

- Collecting some info from enthusiasts on interesting airport movements - from which to update an
occasional news/article of interest section for a website

- Developing a worldwide collection of charts and airspace maps - for multiple purposes, including use
by Aircraft Operators to plan international flights.

- Using some of the most recent web technologies to develop a live information source for airlines,
aircraft operators. Looking at twitter, blogs, xml, RSS feeds.

OK - hope that explains more - if you like - email me! Cheers.
