ATC and trying to stay a traditional National Guard member

Does anyone know how ATC works with you if you are still in the guard, drilling one weekend a month, 2 weeks a year (or the Air Guard for my case). I was just curious if there is any sort of military leave they give you or if it is one of those things where they would rather you just get out and only work for them so they don't need to put up with your military schedule. I would like to remain in the Guard if possible (I almost have 10 years, halfway to retirement). I would hate to give it up this far into it.

I have a buddy of a buddy kinda deal who is in the ANG up at CYS WY. He does that the part time deal and works for the FAA at Denver Tracon. Hes single and is making MAD cash. So yes you can do it.

you sure can.

theres a guy at NEW (not sure if hes still there actually) but hes in the same air national guard unit as my dad. from what I understand it's illegal for any workplace, FAA or otherwise, to deny you your weekend duty.

I've already worked it out with my guard unit, they work well with anybody's schedule. Its the two weeks that will be tough, my unit usually picks up a deployment for 30-60 days and i think somebody would be upset if i was gone for two months.
