Ari-Ben Housing Q

I searched through the forum looking for more on Ari-Ben housing and couldn't find what I was looking for. I'm married with a 2 yr old daughter, and my question is, is the housing available for just single students, or would the married folks get housing also? If not how is the real estate around the area? Any info I can get would be great. thanks

I'm 99.9% sure the housing is just for single or geo. bachelors. As far as apartments go, you can get a nice 2 bdrm for $611, but most of them have at least a 2 month waiting list from what I've seen, so plan ahead. The most used by students in my opinion would be the woods of vero, Kyles run, and the palms at vero (take a look in apartmentguide.com). Hope that helps

thanks alot, unfortunately thats kind of what I figured. Hey at least the housing looks nice for the single guys.

I would appreciate any extra info anyone has on housing, other than what Ari-Ben provides. I'd be looking for a place that takes pets and is month-to-month. Isn't Vero Beach kind of a drive to Ft. Pierce every day?

Also, if anyone was having thoughts of going to Ari-Ben in October or November, I would like to speak to you.

Would you be willing to share a 2 bedroom with another bachelor and two cats?

Too bad I wouldn't be going when you are going to be there. I love cats. I had two as well but they both passed away fairly recently.

This was a joke my 8th grade English teacher had on his wall.

The 8 mile drive to/from Vero is a lot better than living in Ft. Pierce!!

It's only 8 miles? I was under the impression it was much further than that. That opens up a lot of places I guess. I'm more concerned with it being close by than the area, unless I were to get a job there after the training.

trust me, you don't wanna live in Ft Pierce...that place is a freakin ghetto full of gang shootings, crackheads and robberies, Vero is MUCH nicer and well worth the 7 minute drive if you wanna stay alive and keep all your stuff.

Let's just clear this up then... Aviator only has houses in Vero and St. Lucie, right? Are the houses in good neighborhoods?

A lot of Vero is pretty nice. Ft. Pierce is ass.

I'm heading down right now to start on Oct 3rd. With me in that house it would make it 3 Cats :-) I do plan on taking advantage of the free housing though the first three months, need every break on money I can get, lots of spending to do things before I go and one big thing I've got to do next year, so I'm trying to do what I can.

And yes, it's close to the end of a long day at work!

Keep active on this board. Maybe you can give some tips on housing. The internet is not helpful as far as finding a place that is month-to-month and allows pets.

Already checked our craigslist and maybe I'll check out roomates.com when I'm ready to pay the fee, but I doubt someone wanting a roomate will want 2 cats living there.

What are you going to do with your pet for that 3 months?

And if I hear anyone complaining about 8 miles, I will vomit. I just put 110 miles on my car yesterday going from Airport-Home-Instrument Ground-Home. Not good, especially when gas is $2.76/gallon here.

LOL.....sorry, I guess I should have been more clear. My nickname is Cat....I refuse to be called Cathy.

As for looking for an apartment, you might also check out:

I'll try to keep an eye out when I get there as well for you.

Good luck finding a place!

Three notes on housing:

-- School-provided housing is not included in the price of the VA Program. (Look alive Pavetech and AFdude!)

-- School-provided housing is not mandatory. "Three months of housing included" is a misnomer. Although the cost of the housing is 'included' in the price of the Pro Course, if you don't live there the money cannot be taken out of your account. Therefore, if you can't live in a non-smoking, pet-free, bachelor-type setting, or simply choose not to, then advise the school that housing is "not required". Even though money may be set aside in your account for this rent, you will either fly it off or get a refund.

-- Classifieds are better. Catherine listed a couple of good links for finding an apartment, but I found a great beachouse (for very cheap rent when split) on this link TC Palm Newspaper Classifieds

Good Luck!
