ARGH- Laptop or no?

Oh man.. This is driving me crazy..

My main reason for a laptop is to study with.. However, I will have all the writtens out of the way when I get there (maybe minus the FOI.) I don't know how much studying I would do on it..

I would however, like to keep in contact with the "world." Hehe.. If I order a Dell right now, it won't ship until 4/26 anyway, I'll be ~10 days into the program..

Man, I hate making decisions, I could "use" a laptop, just don't need it I guess.. So I'm trying to find justification..

Check out CompUSA. $1,200. I got a Toshiba Satellite...actually using it now. Pentium 4, 60GB, 2.8 GHz, built in Wi-Fi (802.11). And you can have it today. There were a few models with similar features ranging from 899- 1999+. Unless your really want to stick with Del

My justification is that I am going into the travel industry...and who knows were and when i will end up....so I figured it is a good way to stay in touch. Plus, when on the road you can pay bills..banking...keeping up with family and friends. I guess just planning for the future. Buy it now while i have a jobs that pays more than min wage.

As I've said before, they are very useful but not essential. When you get to your base see if there is a library nearby that offers internet access for email.

Summer is also a good time to buy a laptop, prices drop because of the new models arriving in the fall.
 
doesn't the apartments in stuart have internet access in the lobby behind the pool? i thought the lady told me that the two computers were for public use. im i correct?
 
Get the right cell phone provider with a laptop, and you can have all of the internet access you want for free!!!!
 
Well I wound up with an Inspiron 5150, got it hooked up to my laptop and everything's going good..

We've got an Inpiron 8100 and a 2650. Both great computers.
 
I have an Inspiron 8000. It is three years old now.
I have several peripherals hooked up to it. No need for a desktop.
I will not mention how much it cost new.
However, the new ones are substantially cheaper.
My dvd player wasnt working till a week ago. I called service and they managed to get it working again. Woo hoo! I was even considering purchaseing a new one.
If I had seen this post earlier I would have suggested an 8600.
Laptops are very useful. I am sure you will find this out. One word: Mobile. Now get ready to spend more money on toys for your laptop.

P.S. You do realize that your computer is psychotic, i.e. "5150"
 
5150 is the California Highway Patrol radio code for criminally insane or crazy. Also the name of a good Van Halen album.

I don't think he meant free, just included in the cell phone plan. My Sprint plan is around $54 a month/ nationwide with unlimited internet use and I just plug it into my laptop.
 
Yeh, I think what he mean is, get a decent cell phone provider and you can use the net.. I am sitting in a Chili's in Texarkana, Tx waiting on a... "business deal." Then I continue my drive to Dallas.. Only 175 miles to go!
