Are People Discharged Due to DADT Employable?

Yesterday I was listening to Morning Edition on the oh so liburl NPR. They were doing something about don't ask, don't tell, and they had a pilot on who had been drummed out after someone disclosed his personal emails to investigators. And these weren't emails that were sent from his military account, they were emails from the account he paid for himself.

Anyway, that got me thinking. If you're discharged from the military due to violating don't ask, don't tell, you get a less than honorable discharge, correct?

And if you have a less than honorable discharge, won't that make it very difficult for this guy to get a job with an airline? Hell, won't it make it difficult for him to get a job with ANY employer that does a background check?

Many people are booted out with a "General, under honorable conditions" which is the next best thing to serving honorably (That's for another debate) After X amount a months, usually six, you may petition to have your discharge upgraded provided during that time your an upstanding citizen.

Once getting an honorable, Bob's your uncle, or in this case Bob maybe your aunt...
