Are commercial pilots issued business cards?

They arent exactly issued. I know at ASA u can buy like 500 of them for 9 bucks. At our company we can buy them for 23 bucks. But I dont know of anyone that is "issued" biz cards.

and why would anyone need a pilots business card is the question? we cant offer assistance in anyway. I thought about getting them, but have a problem justifying the purchase because who needs a pilots biz card?

I just ordered a fresh set.

Mostly because I'm lazy, have poor handwriting and it's got my cellphone and my email address on it!
 
I ordered a box when I got hired where I'm at now. The company will do them for $15 I think when they have a group of 10 people who want them. I just got mine done online. Not quite as nice but still pretty good looking.

Blee, it's all about networking. You never know when you will be on a jumpseat or have a jumpseater who you can help out with something or the other way around. It looks a lot more professional to hand them a card rather then scribble your name on the back of a TOL card. And, like Doug said, my handwritting also sucks.
 
TOL card? who uses those.ACARS baby! haha.

My handwriting is horrible too. I never thought about the networking aspect. The only real reason I could think of was when u meet a girl u can give your card instead of scratchpaper. HA!
 
Companies like United encourage their pilots to give out their business cards to passengers and to write a thank you note on the back of it.
 
Pilots are not issued business cards in the same sense that I was given a box of business cards when I worked at Tiffany.

You can, if you choose, buy a box of business cards with whatever info you want on them. Most guys who have cards have their cell phone # and email address on them. It's easier for networking purposes to just be able to whip out a card and hand it over than to hunt for a scrap of paper and a pen to chicken scratch your info on.

Somewhere deep in my desk is buried my box of business cards from Eagle. I got them when I was a new-hire, and they make me smile now because they've got my old pager # (I couldn't afford a cell phone as a new-hire in 1995) and they actually say Simmons Airlines, with the old American Airlines American Eagle logo. Quite a conversation piece nowdays :)

I would respectfully suggest you change that sentence to read "Airline pilots are not..." since it is pretty typical in the charter/corporate world.

Although I'm not a professional pilot yet. . . I do carry a set of "personal" business cards around - with my name, cell #, and e-mail addresses for those early networking moments. I like the personal flair a bit more, and well - they look better than government business cards. :)
 
At NetJets, they issue them to use as a newhire. Then we can order as many as we want for replacements for free.

Man Simmons was the place to get hired back in the day. You needed some time at a crummy commuter to get on with the better commuters back then.
