Applied Research in Aviation Program

Just a little plug:

Purdue offers a hands-on research program with leading companies and organizations such as JetBlue, United, IBM, the FAA, NTSB, 3rd party maintenance contractors, etc.

Students, that is, freshmen up through graduate students get to participate in this research. From planning to conducting it to analysis. Many of these programs include trips to such destinations as New York, Paris, Denver, etc.

Just a little something Purdue offers that isn't really matched by other universities.

Cheers,

Are you involved in any of these projects? I've been looking at signing up for one. Also, did someone pass their checkride today? I saw his name on the sheet with checkride next to it?

I'll be involved more in depth in the fall. For now, you could sort of say I'm involved with all of them - simply because of the nature of the class I'm taking.

Talk to me in class about joining.

Yeah, that someone passed their checkride!

If anyone has any questions on the research projects I'm a team lead on the IBM, FAA, and NTSB projects and can answer anything for you.

Hey Dustin! I didn't know you read these forums. Welcome aboard. I hope you're liking the IBM project. HPN is a nice area.

Anyhow, it's nice seeing another Purduer on this board.

Hey Neil
Yeah I figured I'd jump in. We need to finally get some recognition for all the research we do. It kind of goes back to another thread about Purdue not advertising. I think Carney is finally figuring it out and starting to get our name out there. Granted the recent article in the Wall Street Journal and various other aviation publications about the NTSB project really helps. God knows if ERAU makes a recommendation everyone knows about it, but if we save a company a ton of money or increase their on-time rate to over 90% for international flights its not heard about. Our time will come, good luck on the job search. Oh and HPN is great, can't find a company better than IBM to work for.
