Is anyone watching "Airline" on A&E tonight? This guy wants to get home to Ft. Lauderdale but they rebooked him to the next morning because he had 2 drinks. He was saying that SouthWest wasn't the only airline in the airport and he could go fly with Eastern if he wanted to. I wonder where he has been for while. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cwm27.gif

I am curious about the new show called "LAX" that is on tonight. Some of us got to see where they film this show.

Southwest is VERY strict with there drinking policy, at least on the show, if they even THINK you've had a beer, that’s it your off the flight.

Now my personal commentary:

I try not to watch the show; unfortunately I can't avoid the commercials, because instead of using the show as a forum for positive publicity, Southwest uses it for the exact opposite.

If I were running Southwest I’d make sure that the millions of Americans who watch the show and have never had any experience with our airline said “Hey what a great airline, I think I’ll try them next time I fly to _______.” Instead most people who see it say “How do they stay in business with such atrocious customer service?” (Not knowing that some other airlines have almost equally atrocious customer service)

Whoa, nvm Airline. LAX is interesting so far /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/spin2.gif

Why should I watch a TV show when I'll be experiencing the real thing with a 0425 show in the morning?

LAX comes on in one hour, though, will have to sneak a peak to see what all the roar is about.

I've watched several, but I have to admit I'm getting tired of sitting through them. Tooooo many people that are giving the 'Greyhound of the sky' a new meaning.
I've been rather impressed on how the employees handle themselves and hold the line, even when they feel otherwise. I've thought they've come off as very professional.
However that being said, it all seems to come down to lack of planning (or knowledge) on the customers part does not constitute an emergency on the airlines part. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

What I'd like to see is more inside the cockpit. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have n o o o o o o o o interest.

Reminds me of when were in college and my friend Ed bought that "Martha and John King Fly to Prescott in a Citation" tape.

Well, Ed's dad was a Flying Tiger (previous to the Fedex purchase) 74 driver.

I said, "Hey Ed! Did your dad watch it? What did he think about it?"

Ed replies, "My dad said, 'Son, why the (expletive deleted) would I want to watch that (expletive deleted) tape when I can hardly tolerate it when those (expletives deleted) pay me to do it in real life? Turn the (expletive deleted) game back on and have your mom bring me a (expletive deleted) beer, boy.'"

I laughed. Then paused. Then laughed a little more. Then I looked really confused.

But looking back, I totally get it now.

They film it at DFW. Heather Locklear was on Leno and said she returned from Dallas where they shot the show.

I caught the part when that guy got wasted by that 747 tire! Now that is the way to go out.

They probably shoot the show all over. But I can confirm what Mike said. I was the other one that got to see them shooting in LA at a studio called "Air Hollywood". They were shooting a scene where Blair Underwood was in a plane.

[/ QUOTE ]interesting? Brian, you need to hang out at the airport more often!!

First off, it's not even LAX.. it's DFW... 2ndly, they got soooo many things WRONG that it worries me about the perception people are going to get from this show!

airline and airport might be a little more on kilter - LAX was WAY off....

I have a funny feeling that if they tried to portray what goes on in the cockpit, it would be about as accurate as watching Leslie Neilson (sic?) crank the taxi meter on the instrument panel and ask Victor about the vectors... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Quote of the night from my dad:

"They don't have any clamshells or reverse panels open. I've had a STROKE and I know that plane isn't going backwards!"

My dad was an avid flightsimmer for YEARS, so he knows what he's talking about. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

You know you're probably right. Although I could probably file it next to my 'Airplane' & 'Naked Gun' movies.
I love Leslie Neilson, helps me laugh at myself. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
