Anyone Use ClubGlove Flight Crew Bags?

The Pelican is too small inside.

Looks interesting at 6# lighter than the Luggage Works one. But $100+ more than their lightened metal framed one.

Don't like that it looks like a duffel bag. Would bet the sides will break down fairly fast in our environment.

Ehh, I want a metal frame, at least.

Look no further! Metal subframe, plastic bagging, expandable zippers and with 8, YES EIGHT wheels, you can manvour like the pros.

Take it from here @mikecweb

I don't know. If they're built any thing like the pelican cases I used back in the day they should be built like a tank. They're designed to protect expensive equipment used by people who travel constantly. They may start to look worn but I wouldn't say any more worn than the beat up old Luggage Works that we've all seen people commuting with.

Disclaimer: I've only used original Pelican Cases not their new luggage. I also have a LW 22" that I used at the airline but since I'm on the 91 side now I hate lugging that thing around.

Still no one has topped luggageworks.

There are days when I think nobody has topped luggage works because nobody is able to get a foot hold in what it arguably an incredibly small market due to the momentum that PNS/Luggage Works created 20 years ago, not because there aren't superior products out there.

And when the bag does break, you used to be able to take the bag into the stopover store to get it fixed when you had a long sit, but crew outfitters bought the company and got rid of the luggage repair guy in DTW, so now the only way to get repairs done is to send the bag back to the manufacture. What's the point of a modular bag that's easy to fix if you can't get parts/get it repaired easily?

Yep, I'm familiar with Pelican cases. I own a welder packed in one. It's great.

Interior space of the 22" LW vs Pelican is almost 50% more. In other words, you can fit almost 1.5x as much stuff in the same size LW as you can in the Pelican.

Like I said, they're small. They just don't fit the mission we use them for unless you do day turns to the islands and only pack a swimsuit.

That's really too bad. The only reason I ever bought a bag from the StopOverStore is because of their luggage repair. I guess I will go back to buying bags on Amazon or somewhere else. I personally hate Crew Outfitters as they have horrible quality products and customer service. I thought M&H was bad until I had to use Crew Outfitters.

I haven't been able to look at one in person and they don't list the internal dimensions on the LW website for comparison. If you've seen it in person, is it really that much smaller? I don't go to the islands much from the west coast but we do a lot of Baja/Puerto Vallarta. So a typical four day trip I'd need at least room for five speedos. I'm no heathen, I need a clean pair every day plus a back up. :)

Pelican is located in Torrance so maybe I'll swing by in the way to work one day.

I use the older piggy-back rollerboard and their flight kit. I love it. I fly way to much, and it takes the abuse just fine. I ended up having to replace the bearings on the wheels every spring, due to rolling them in the parking lot through salt and snow, but at the cost of $15 for 20 bearings, that's fine with me. It fits into the overhead of a RJ-700/900, and can roll down any aircraft aisle without getting caught on every seat.

Customer service is top notch. Had an issue with my flight kit zipper and called about the warranty. They spoke to the owner (as he is a pilot himself), and they sent me a brand new flight bag, told me to keep the old one to get repaired and keep as a backup or sell.

I'd call and ask them about an aircrew discount btw.

Just as an addin: I've used the piggyback II for almost 4 years now. The handle broke (due partly to me), and they 2 day fed-ex shipped me a brand new handle with no questions asked.
