Deer enters, runs around KCI’s Terminal A

Early morning passengers probably took a double-take this morning after a deer somehow got into and wandered through Terminal A at Kansas City International airport.

The deer was seen running through the terminal around 5:45 a.m. today before it was locked into an office for US Airways, according to Joe McBride, an airport spokesman.

Airport officials are waiting for representatives from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Wildlife Services to arrive and tranquilize the deer so it can be removed, McBride said.

Authorities are not sure how the deer got into the terminal. In the past, however, wildlife have walked up the airport’s terminals, triggering the opening of the doors.

“I’m sure there were some early morning passengers who when they saw the deer wondered if they had enough coffee,” McBride said.

In Montana, the tourists would try and walk up to it for a photo op. "Honey! Look at the pretty pet deer they have in the airport! He MUST be tame!"

Don't feed the bears.

Yeah...excellent. Glad this is where I live.

If they hadn't put the airport damn near to Omaha and had build in a more developed area of town, perhaps this wouldn't have happened.

I'm 10 minutes south of the airport, smack dab between MKC and MCI. We have about 10-15 deer run through my yard daily. They don't even run when you walk outside to take pictures, they just look at you and basically smile.

I'm sure he came through the TSA checkpoint. They were probably too busy taking some old lady's 4 ounces of hand cream.

It's so true. It's such a pain in the ass to drive to KCI. It doesn't help that I live on the south side of Olathe. I pretty much have to traverse the entire city to get there.

I like where the airport is. I also live about 10 minutes south and in between MCI and MKC. They should have just found a hunter to take care of the deer. I'm sure that wouldn't be too hard in this part of the country.
