I am going to start helping a guy rebuild his widgeon today...anybody ever worked on one? I think I can build time towards my A&P with this because I will be working with an IA.
Sounds great! Take a lot of pictures along the way!
Keep a healthy log of any work you do on any plane that is under the guidance of any A&P. That will help you get your 30 months and it adds up quickly.

Sporty's has a AMT logbook, get it and keep track of what you do and the time you spend doing it. It'll just make life easier when you go and get your letter from the FSDO to take the practical.
I've worked on a lot of older planes, a few warbirds, but never a Widgeon. It'll be great experience and look great on the resume.
