Any Pilots living in Hawai'i?

I've heard of some guys that live in LAS and LAX but for the most part, I think most HA pilots live on the islands. Some folks live on the neighbor islands and commute in from Kau'ai, the big island, and Maui. I just couldn't imagine the stress of trying to get from the mainland to HNL on non-rev status. I lived on Oahu for about a year and met a lot of guys that lived back on the mainland for a while when they started and then moved over after the first year because they could finally afford to buy property with second year pay. If you are looking at Go! I would suggest...keep looking. It's really expensive to live in Kahalui and I can't imagine $1800/month is going to cut it. I was struggling for the first six months at $2200/month on Oahu. Island Air, Mokulele, AirMed (C-90 Air Ambulance,) Corporate Air, TransAir, and a couple others are around if you are really wanting the Hawai'i job.

BTW: KAer...good job on the upgrade...how's it feel to be the bouncer instead of the front seat occupant at the bungalow?

I'm in Hawaii but I'm only a CFI. PM me if you want
I've met a few people around who live here and commute to the mainland but not vice versa. Once on a flight from Hilo I sat next to a lady who worked for eagle and was based in Chicago. She said it was about a 12 hour commute. She may have the longest commute in the country.
